Using Web Application Configuration Analizer (WACA) - CTP Version

Anil Revuru (RV), from Microsoft Information Security, walks us through a configuration verification tool that will be part of a suite of tools that will help you assess your code as well as protect it. For more info watch the Assessment & Protection (A&P) Suite video.

WACA is designed to scan your development environment against best practices for .NET security configuration, IIS settings, SQL Server Security best practices and some Windows permission settings. It is helpful for verifying your configuration while unit testing and ensuring there are no issues when the application is in production.

The CTP (Community Technology Preview) for this tool is available in Microsoft Connect – Information Security Tools.

Isolated Storage en Silverlight

Nos encontramos ante un nuevo video de Alejandro Hidalgo, en el que nos habla del Isolated Storage. En caso de que necesitemos guardar datos de nuestra aplicación Silverlight de forma permanente podemos usar el Isolated Storage. El cual nos aporta un sistema de ficheros virtual cuya localización en disco estará ofuscada. Esto nos puede servir para guardar en cliente datos y recursos de gran tamaño que puedan ser reutilizados durante la sesión actual del usuario o la siguiente.

Rx is a .NET Library that allows programmers to write succinct declarative code to orchestrate and coordinate asynchronous and event-based programs based on familiar .NET idioms and patterns.

MFC: Integrating your application with the Windows Restart Manager

This is a short demonstration of new MFC features in MFC which help with integrating your application with the Windows Restart Manager. This is done by implementing handlers for restart and crash recovery, and by integrating an auto-save feature that uses the document-view architecture to save intermediate temporary copies of your document. This is implemented in an application generated by the MFC application wizard. Pat Brenner, MFC guru and one of the folks who design and implement MFC is your host.
