Presentation Help [Presentation Help]

I have had to make a presenatation (for projection) which mainly comprises of a series of images, however there is a video at the end.

I recieved the video from the speaker in *.vob format, and I cut it down using Avidemux (in Ubuntu 7.04) to produce a *.avi file.

I embedded the file as a video on a slide at the end of the presentation (created in "Open Office Presentation").

Everything worked on my computer, but as I expected, on the Windows XP Professional laptop I will be using for the presentation, this does not work.

The only thing I need to sort out is the embedded video.

I cannot play the video in Windows Media Player, only MPlayer for Windows works.

Does anyone have a solution? I just need to embed the video in the presentation (I can convert it to a different format [preferably on Ubuntu 7.04 as none of the converters on Windows seem to work {probably due to my creation of the video in Ubuntu 7.04}]).

I was just wondering whether a product of this variety exists.

One would have a digital camera, which has a GPS unit installed. When docked the camera will load the images into a KML file (Google Earth), which can be imported into Google Earth. The images then would appear in the location they were taken. There would be possibilities with sharing over the Internet also.

Is anyone aware of such a product?

Threads Not Read [Threads Not Read]

I have become slightly annoyed recently as it seems that on Channel 9, the threads I read are not marked with the darker icon to show that there are no new posts in them.

I have tried this in Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 to no avail, and I have also cleared the cache, cookies, etc. just to see if it helped (it didn't).

Is this happening to anyone else?

How do I sort it out? (It is really impeding on my ability to use Channel 9) :p

I can imagine that I would use one to show my typing skills (founded through tens of thousands of words of business GCSE work this year).

I was wondering whether Content MathML is widely used. I was thinking of using some form of program which would allow the user to define custom functions for a calculation using Content MathML.

I would like to know whether there would be enough people who use MathML for this program to be used.

I created a very simple plain text editor, taking inspiration from Microsoft's Notepad.

My application is really intended for learning (I learned a lot doing it), but you must note that the code is untidy (I found this out in a post in the Techoff), although I think you will probably be able to understand it.

The application can Save, Open, Print, do Page Setup, change font, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Undo, Word Wrap, Find, Replace, Goto Line, and more.

Can anyone find something wrong, or something I should do?

I am creating a Notepad-like application, and part of this will be printing from a richTextBox control.

I have looked at several tutorials, and other pieces of information, and I cannot get this thing to work.

I was checking my web statistics (I use Webalizer for this), and it appeared that there were some very strange referrers to my site. I host practically nothing, basically a small project page (with only one project on), an "About" section, and links to technology websites.

I would only really expect there to be a few referals from places like Channel 9, and possibly another forum, and the rest would be direct requests, but this is not the case.

I was wondering how accurate these statistics are, and, how this could be caused. I am on a shared hosting plan, and thus it made me think that someone else on the same server as me could be hosting something that some of these websites are linking to via IP, and hence this would be logged by the logging application on the server; could this be correct?

I am a bit worried about this because I can't understand who would be linking to my hosted files, because there isn't anything to link to really (especially not that the sites which are referring to me would be interested in :p).

It seems like a very good idea, depending on the price. Would you consider using it?

In my opinion it is a good idea as long as the price is relatively low, hopefully it can help reduce the use of electricity in homes and offices.

At Halloween we had a customised banner, with a house on it, and bats flying out. Are we going to do something like this, but more festive for Christmas. Has anyone got any ideas, or suggestions?

I think it would be great to make Channel 9 look a bit more seasonal at Christmas time (nearer 25/12/2006, not today :p).

I am useless at designing things so hopefully someone can help out and make something that could be used.

Any thoughts?

What do you think? I am no gamer, but I think it is pretty drastic to ban all of a certain style of games just because one person who played them went on a shooting spree. I wonder if this will become a law.

My handwriting is notoriously bad, and I was wondering whether this has anything to do with how I spend a lot of time typing things, and not as much time writing.

So, as the rest of the Channel 9 users will, I am sure, spend longer than me typing, and using the computer, I would like to ask: "how good is your handwriting?".

It is interesting to see different people's handwriting. Has anyone with good handwriting got tips for making ones handwriting better? :p

I think that as there are many university graduates, and people of high education it would be hard to tell who is the most intelligent.

I know that everyone knows about the bugs with the Channel 9 search facility, but I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned.

(Note: this bug is reported on 21/11/2006 at 15:52)

To recreate the bug, go to the search page:

The "Limit to specific forums" listbox disappears when moused over.

I am using Firefox 1.5.x, the bug also works in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.

Is this a known bug?

I have heard people talking about running as a limited user, and how it would stop a virus/trojan/etc. and I was curious as to whether anyone on Channel 9 runs as a limited user.

I personally use a user account that has administrator privileges, and I haven't really had any problems, but what account do you run? (Limited user, or Administrator?)
