Well, I only need to get a city from lat and long. I really wonder that none of the map providers (Google, Yahoo, MS) seem to have a web service for that. All of them offer you to input an address and get lat/long back but not vice versa...ZippyV said:Don't be too euphoric, the lists are not clean and contain other things like mountains, rivers, lakes. It's almost impossible to get a clean list of only cities and villages based on filtering the other columns.BeSharp said:*snip*

Wow! With the data files made available there I might be able to set up my own web service to convert stuff! Great hint! Thanks!ZippyV said:
With that topic I did find a list but it didn't end up on Channel 9.BeSharp said:*snip*
But I found it back:

I did the search on C9 myself, however, that discussion thread does unfortunately NOT answer the question I've posted here.
I'll repeat for the sake of being clear:
I know many services (Yahoo Maps API, etc.) that allow you to get Latitude and Longitude information when you send an address as the input. I do need it the other way around.
All I want to send as INPUT parameter ist Latitude and Longitude and as a return result I'd need city and country.
Any hints? -
Can anybody recommend either a Web Service or an offline database solution which would allow me to get the city and country for any given latitude and longitude?
(Free solutions/services preferred but possible commercial solutions are welcome, too!)

Just installed Chrome. Took some 20 seconds. First impression:
- Startup time is fast!- Browsing pagess is fast!- Very nice "Inspect Element..." contextual menu feature.- Geeky stats display.- Straight forward download "manager"
Might really attack IE8... -
Also: The "Online Friends" fly-out in the lower right corner of the (new) fb profile doesn't seem to work anymore in ie 8 beta 2...
-
I'm unable to view videos on facebook profiles with latest beta 2 of ie 8. (Get "Done, but with errors on page" javascript warnings in status bar on nearly EVERY fb page.)
When I click a video in a friend's profile it takes me directly to the "Add a comment" page.
Just to confirm: Everything works perfectly fine in Firefox, so not a general fb issue.
Can anyobdy duplicate this behavior/bug/issue/problem? -

That guide doesn't say anything about using the Pwnage Tool.BeSharp said:*snip*... which is 100% okay. It's okay that it does not. As okay as it is to flash whatever software you want on an item you've purchased. As long as you're not STEALING anything it's just fine.

Try this one.ZippyV said:BeSharp said:*snip*In fact, Vodafone itself in countries where they did not get the iPhone deal (as e.g. in Germany) do post instructions how to open the iPhone and offer a special tarrif to iPhone users.
Linky?
The key is that if you legally PURCHASED the iPhone you can do with it what you want. If you upload a different OS, fine. The only thing you're not allowed to do is use carrier's special tarrifs as they might be bound to an original iPhone. That's exactly why Vodafone offers tarrifs even given the fact that they do NOT sell iPhones in Germany.

Wrong assumption: Opening the iPhone is far from illegal. In fact, Vodafone itself in countries where they did not get the iPhone deal (as e.g. in Germany) do post instructions how to open the iPhone and offer a special tarrif to iPhone users.ZippyV said:
It's still illegal and these kind of topics are not allowed to be posted.BeSharp said:*snip*
I'd suggest that you try to make sure that you're correct before shouting. I appreciate your feedback anyway, as always.
