Yikes.. yeah, sounds like a cookie problem. Clear your cookies!
We've found that IE9 tends to cache things that it shouldn't and hold onto things even when you have cleared your cache so if that doesn't work go to Internet Options -> Browsing History -> Settings -> View Files -> and delete everything in that Temporary Internet Files folder.

Yeah, it shouldn't do that. I would suggest clearing your cookies. It sounds like maybe LiveID got in a weird state somehow?

Yes, we care!
We've been in contact with TinyMCE and are trying on our own to make it work with IE9 RC. It's quite a task from what I understand (I'm not working on it personally) but we are as bothered as you that it isn't working. Part of the problem is that it IS a third party control and we're trying to figure out if we should fix it on our own or if there is an update coming. We got IE9 RC at the same time as everyone else so we're working hard to fix bugs as we see them. Most of the complaints that I've heard are that it doesn't work well in IE9 RC (which I can verify as that is what I'm using right now and it's focusing all over the darn place while I'm typing!) and was also buggy in Beta. There's also an annoying "feature" in Chrome where it expands the height of the box in strange ways. If you could let us know what other browsers (and version) it is being buggy in, that would help.

@CKurt: We will probably be doing some modifications to the player skin. The one that was default for the smf player was very clunky (in my opinion) so Duncan knocked it down a little bit and made it so the controls would actually go away when you moused off of them just to make it more presentable but we haven't really gone any farther than that - yet.

@CKurt: Regarding your issue with fullscreen on the new player, are you using IE9 beta or a different browser?

@androidi: No, you're not the only one! I too watch Survivor, The Amazing Race and (embarrassing I know) Big Brother.

Just posted a similar response in this other thread:
http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Feedback/Still-hopeing-for-Skull-Icons/f256f536752a4b6dbf469e640051fa6eBasically, we decided that the "captcha"-esque idea was the best way to go. Some way of making the user confirm that they know it's an old post before they reply to an old thread.
Also, if you do mark the last reply as spam and it actually gets removed by someone who has permission to do so, I believe it does bury the thread again. I'll ask sampy though to make sure.

Yeah, we did talk about this the other day at standup. We were tossing around some ideas and thought maybe we should indicate before someone starts typing a reply to a necro thread, that it is old and make sure they are okay with that before allowing them to hit the Submit button. This could include a large skull icon if that pleases the masses

+1 for Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Mad Men, Entourage and Weeds. I also recently went back and watched Battlestar Galactica (the 2004 remake) and really loved it. Sounds like I need to start watching Sherlock Holmes!

Not a bad idea, I'll bring it up after the holidays.
