Coffeehouse - Swimming with Vista Media Center

This is a most-have feature request:

How many times have you been browsing the EPG and seen shows (starting at different times) that you may be interested to watch but then later you totally forgot to switch the channel and when you do, the shows have already started?

Wouldn't be nice to have an option as part of the Info button to remind you when the show starts? That way, you could be notified or even switched to that channel.

Coffeehouse - Microsoft’s portable digital media device - watch out Apple?

They should add something like Bluetooth or WiFi for um, picture transfers....yeah that's it.

Yeah, they should consider the inclusion of Bluetooth and WiFi. Razor-sharp design, super widescreen aspect, multipurpose context-based buttons and kept to a minimum numbers (similar to PSP). Built-in large Hard Drive, FM/XM radio capable with recording capability
and awesome Bluetooth headphones. Also, the device should be 100% compatible with Windows Vista Media Center.

I personally like the new Windows Vista Media Center interface. They should consider that as the interface for this device.

Coffeehouse - Bluetooth 2.0 in Vista

Does anyone know if Bluetooth 2.0 support will be included in Vista. It seems that the current Bluetooth 1.1 is beginning to fade. Some new devices are coming out with version 2 compatibility.

I wonder if MS is thinking about this in Vista.

Coffeehouse - Idea for Windows Vista Media Center

I just thought of a great idea for the next Windows Media Center. How about having a Media Center PC that would support Bluetooth technology like it is meant to be? For instance, let’s say
you’re watching TV and you see that there’s an incoming call on MCE. Not only you can see who is calling but also you can choose to weather answer the call or have MCE to take the message. This is assuming MCE would have Bluetooth adapter just like most cars
handle Bluetooth today. Except, unlike cars, MCE could support multiple Bluetooth profiles. Meaning you can have a set of Bluetooth headphones and listen to you MCE without disrupting anybody. Imagine all the possibilities you can add to MCE if Bluetooth is
added to the system.

Please add any other idea you may have to make MCE more enjoyable

Coffeehouse - Is MSN messenger a IM for Business or Entertainment?

Evidently Carlos Luna has never heard of Public and Private Key Crytography and One-Time Pads.

Okay, there is no such thing as "true" security in computing, but the OTP method is pretty damn secure.

Sorry W3bbo, but this isn't about encryption methods. You're missing my point. It doesn't matter the layer of encryption you apply to a connection. The point is that MSN Messenger suggests chatters never to give out passwords or credit cards information over
an IM conversation. What they probably forgot to mention is that your PC may be infected with some type of malicious code or key logger.

Personally, I share financial information with people I do business with. Acknowledged we both have secured systems. I’ve never had any problem with that. Those IMs I mentioned encrypt information from point-to-point fair enough.

Yes, OTP may be pretty damn good, but how good would that be if as OTP encrypts everything that goes in the pipe a key logger steals your information?

the MSN messager seems not safe enough, I need a more security IM, is there a secure IM in the market? if the answer is not, I would create an one.

Many people have tried to create new IMs and such, but as long as you are interchanging messages with other people, which it's the main idea of an IM application, there'll never be a secure way of instant messaging. Put it this way, you're having a phone conversation
with someone. The phone company can't monitor or have safety measures to block or ban conversations because what's being said may be inappropriate.

It is the same concept with IMs. As far as I know, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, AOL, Google utilize encryption mechanisms to rout conversations from point to point, but what's being encrypted isn't the carriers' business.

Now I’m curious to know the kind of IM you have in mind to create that will revolutionize the way IM is done today.
They have so many people over there that speak english as a 2nd language, that it would be a prime seeding ground for injecting a useless interjection from a movie into people's everyday vernacular as some cruel inside joke.
