Or, put the text in hidden Div's, which the user can optionally unhide. Comments?

Coffeehouse - Desktop sharing in windows

You do not need a server to do this. Windows Media Encoder will stream video directly from a Win XP Pro box. It also has a screen capture codec that compresses the full screen into less than 150 kilobits/second at 10 fps.

Tell Windows Media Encoder to use "Screen Capture" as the video device, and whatever audio device you want. On the Output tab, select "pull from encoder" and choose a port number that the clients will connect to. (They can use HTTP or MMS.) Then on the Compression
tab, choose Windows Media server (streaming) - Video: Screen Capture (CBR), then choose a bit rate & frame rate.

Coffeehouse - Channel9 Videos and MPlayer (Linux)

One thing to watch for - the Channel 9 videos are usually encoded with multiple bit rates. Also some of them use the WM9 Voice codec which is a bit unusual (but is a good choice).

Coffeehouse - MSN Toolbar Suite is out...

Desktop search is fantastic. It's saving me a fair bit of time. Doesn't seem to work with Outlook 2000 though. Outlook is running all the time, the toolbar is there, the option to search Outlook is checked, the indexing has been completed. But it never
finds any results from Outlook when I search. (Mail, contacts, calendar, don't return anything.)

Coffeehouse - Wich Tool are you using for reading RSS Feeds?

Tech Off - Rectangle for particular string.

MeasureString works great. Just make sure you use the same String, Font & StringFormat when you call DrawString.

P.S. I love how GDI+ is practically identical in unmanaged C++ and in the .Net framework. They both end up calling a bunch of scary looking unsupported (but documented!) C functions.

Tech Off - How Do I Stop A Thread

In my own app, I have the used the method of having the worker thread wait with Monitor.Wait, and the other thread (a UI thread) signalling it with Monitor.Pulse.

Coffeehouse - Search Engine Rankings

I find that a web page's title can boost your page rank dramatically. You can also try getting a good domain name, using good URL's (multiple words separated with hyphens), and putting important words in header tags (h1, h2, etc.). All these things are
good for usability too.
