Coffeehouse - WinHec keynote video now posted

HAHA give me a frigging break! The KDE and Gnome menu's are the crappiest knock offs and half working developments since the beginning of the start menu design... MS had it first gnome and kde copied and its still horrendous to work with. So dont get me
started with that....

As for the LH start menu its still under major development! The fact is that the ability for such a simple run is just that easy u type 2 letters and press enter and its there... incase you dont feel like clicking through a menuwhich in some cases like me i
would love this!... The run menu is actually probably goingto be removed but as we all know since this is a MS site and not a bunch of linux/osx fanboys that lh is still PRE Beta1 and 70% of the operating system isnt done so stop critiqueing. Whats the last
GUI thing that gnome did that was original... i mean really... i have yet to see 1 thing be innovated on linux gui for desktop. No its always windows and osx... but windows gets all the criticism cause there the largest god its annoying.

Coffeehouse - MS Anti-Spyware Beta

Ok love the idea of the ms sponsored spyware protection but if they charge a subscription than i think it's complete BS because its protecting you againt there own programs faults that let in spyware. In that case they should start making wholes that there
spyware bot can block and then refuse to actually fix them if there gonna go subscription like giant used to be ....

On another note i feel while they are at it they need to buy spywareblaster's team and software and add a immunization style database that immunizes the computer and have it autoupdate via windows update Then we'll be talking about a truely secure OS. Immunization
and updates via windowsupdate and a decent spyware app for free... and later down the road antivirus as well (that i can see as fee based subscription) And we'll have a much better locked down system

Coffeehouse - Wonder When

Now that the extenders are coming out i wonder when we will see real digital photo frames. I mean think about it a minamalized extender just the bare essentials piped to a lcd with wifi. Maybe a little web interface so u can change the playlist. And boom
we have a digital picture frame streaming all of your families images, with the advent of nanoitx units i really see this as a possibility i mean since its just pictures a simple 500mhz nanoitx would work passivly cooled fit inside a 3/4" picture frame with
the oled or lcd in the front of it and boom all done. I think it would sell dont you? God if they wanted to really keep with the extender feel allow it to stream video as well but u would have to have the ethernet cable plugged in that the nano itx comes with

Coffeehouse - Longhorn Progress reports

LOL its just hilarious someone just said that the alienware is more expensive than a frigging dual 2.5ghz mac

WOW no its about the same price, and hate to say it it wont come with an ati 9200 pro card it'll come with the best and highest quality components.

And wont have slugishness just scrolling a frigging internet explorer window.

Ever read the review by anandtech (or was it tomshardware) about a pc persons objective view of using a mac it makes some interesting points on how much power it takes just to run a mac i mean come on a DESKTOP that needs DUAL 2.5ghz processors to run decently?
And at decently i dont mean flawless with the best games running at 90fps with nvidia 6800 ultra

Coffeehouse - Longhorn Progress reports

Forgot to say how come linux can have great memory management and caching services, and mac osx can have avalon and winfs opps cough cough i meant that nifty super quick search engine and sick effects i know i know thats not what avalon and winfs are
really but especially that search box they are adding to there next version of mac osx that searches for "bob" and shows all files emails contacts etc. Why is MS having so many problems with so many and such a wide range of programmers starts to make ya ask
the question of what in gods name are the thousands of programmers doing, With the expertice and experience at microsoft i would think longhorn could be securely developed beyond anything else, and beyond anyones expectations or limitations in the 3 years
MS has given it.

Coffeehouse - Longhorn Progress reports

I realized something while dealing with linux, after everyone complains about windows vulnerabilities. Note: I said dealing with not using. LOL If you've ever looked at the kernel patch list or the grsec patch list or even just go onto a forum like the
gentoo new release list, there must be over 100000 bugs in linux that are constantly getting patched and upgraded i must do atleast 40 updates every 3 days to keep everything nice and tidy, and many people might say "ye but the linux updates all the programs
too" sorry to say thats a great thing but 99% of my upgrades are from libs that i dont know what they hell they have to do with."

Win2003 Microsoft is there for me and fixes the problems as soon as they can and the system upgrades quietly and eventually asks for a reboot (hopefully soon explorer reloads by itself instead of rebooting)

Back on the topic

It sure has been a long time since news of a leaked longhorn build was flashed around the net LOL microsoft went really tight lipped after the news that winfs wasnt going to make it to longhorn the "next gen operating system" kinda left a "well if thats not
gonna be in it and avalon and other things are being backported to xp... what the hell makes longhorn so special

Coffeehouse - MSN Messenger makes me :(

I fully understand that no one single chat interface will make everyone happy however with the innovativeness at microsoft i would have thought that the distinguishable ability to choose what you want wouldnt exactly be that far off i mean is it really
that unrealistic for when a user is adding his account profile to MSN it asks "Fluffy or Professional"if you ask for fluffy cause your a college guy or girl that wants a nice looking fun interface then great if you are in an office and want a more MSNConcept
style (like i posted above) then walla the interface is switched to a more plain interface non-skinned no winks except what is authorized.

But it makes things seem alot like IE's problem that so many have seen theres a number of small minut(sp) problems and things that people want to see added BEFORE LONGHORN that would make the utmost difference in peoples view of microsofts care for the product.
I mean the general public is fine with waiting for a full new intuitive way of viewing the web but for the time being people just want whats already available from everyone else in there beloved MS product. You cant develop for the future and forget about
the present.
