The desktop isn't much different than windows 7.  It adds a better kernal. (memory management/cpu/graphics).  So it's better for me.

Non-RT versions of Windows 8 still run desktop apps just fine. I vividly remember the new start menu landing in the internal builds of Windows I was running a couple of years back. Sure there was a brief learning curve (same tends to happen anytime you do a major rev of... anything).

Windows 7 has long been banned from my home, and now everything is running Windows 8 and all are happy... even in cases where the device is not touch enabled.

I don't have a problem with this, I'm just saying what turns people off.   I'm much smarter than the average person, so this doesn't apply to me.  But when people click on a link and the RT version of IE pops up, they get confused  and don't understand switching back and forth.  They don't know how to set it up so the desktop IE opens the link instead of the RT version.  They just throw their hands up in the air, give up and buy an apple.  Now part of the problem can be blamed on the american education system or attitude of the general public, but that's a different discussion.  I'm just telling you why people are blogging, that windows 8 is a disaster.  I personally love it.

Really, they should just make the desktop icons live tiles and be done with it.  Switching between both is a Sinofsky.

Fact: The only thing in my resume that I added in 2012 was my cheevos/gamerscore because I hit 80 and didn't want to add it before I did that.

I've covered that topic many times, and it's even on the FAQ on the cheevos.com site.  Basically if I meet someone at a club or a party that has more cheevos than me, I buy them a drink and leave.  I'm not saying I'm the best, but better than about 99%.  Sort of the plot of my reality movie actually, I meet a gamerchick with more than me and see what happens to me.  Totally Krispix(female gamer chick leader) and Choskie 150k have confirmed to be in my movie.  You can see that they're both on my xbox live friends list too (How's that for some cred).

Well I think Microsoft has done a pretty good job, and True Achievements website has done a good job sorting and ranking the data (although they have a monopoly on the data).  I don't want to promote TA, but if you've never seen their website, you should check out all the various rankings and statistics they offer to check your cheevos.

Microsoft has the authority because they have the best online gaming ecosystem.  Xbox 360 is the dominant console and had cheevos way before sony had trophies or whatever.  Things could change, but for now and years back Xbox360 has been very dominant.

I guess you could sue them like europe did so Internet Explorer isn't installed by default, saying you should be able to pick different gamerscore options....well let me just stop that thought, cus it's going no where.

Point is, until there is some dominant gaming system that won't port an equal game over to microsoft's console or PC, MS will be the central authority.  I guess if that did happen, I'd tell people, 'In 2012, I had 100k cheevos"

I think you're talking about coming up with a life points achievements, sort of how I did a self worth calculator.  The problem is verifying all those achievements, it's not realistic.

And it should.  There are so many reasons to link Xbox Live with Office 2013.  Press a button, and awesome excel sheet with all you games, cheevos, dates, completion..., your friends list, same thing.  Word documents, insert game details, gamercard pics...  You could make your document letterhead default with your xbox live gamercard with current cheevos.   Heck, I could make some great utilities, but I got denied for the API for xbox live when I applied for it.

Now for those that don't know, xbox cheevos/gamerscore is in Xbox, Xbox Kinect games, Windows Phone, Windows 8 games, PC games and there is 1 game in iOS. Many of you have posted that you want cheevos for doing various things not on a device, well Kinect has the ability to do so and Kinect Labs do have cheevos. This is the future I'm talking about, where you can really get credit(and proof) for Cheevofying a chick. And everyone in the workplace that has windows 8 will now rack up cheevos at work playing solitare. MS needs to change the name from xbox live gamerscore to something like: live-score or life-score. This ecosystem is taking over and everyone is going to have cheevos like it or not. This is why I'm surprised that VS didn't have realy cheevos. (Hopefully in 3 years).

The penalty is DCOM

Verry good attempt at a scenario, but this was about cheating the VS achievement so I wouldn't have to spend anytime getting them.

The other thing is that you don't understand the business world (at least in the United States).

Say I worked for HP and wanted a promotion, I'd become Meg Whitman's boy toy. (I freelance many odds jobs so I don't deal with this stuff).

The go to guy will always remain the "go to guy" because "they're too valuable" at their current position.  The only way for the go to guy to get a promotion is to change jobs.

You need to spend more time reading my websites and watching my videos.

Oh no, I haven't cheated.  I'm just wondering what the penalty is?  For example, in xbox live they will erase your cheevos and maybe delete your account.  This happens often and Microsoft monitors this.  

I noticed there is a leader board for VS Achievements.  If there is no penalty for cheating and/or no one is monitoring the site how do I know that the leaderboard is legit? 

Now when (I predict in 3-5 years) the Xbox live team or who controls the achievements contacts you and asks you to transfer those achievements to the Xbox live system, you must be very careful to do it right.

I guess there would be 2 way to do it.  Erase the current ones and start over, or do a transfer.  I would suggest erasing everyone because of the problems that could come up.

If you do transfer, here are some things to look out for:

You don't want people to be able to copy someone's saved file and have all the cheevos pop on the transfer.  I hope you can't do that.

I also hope you are recording the mili-seconds when you get an achievement.  Xbox live does and it's one of the ways they catch cheaters.  Last year someone with the largest following on TA got caught for cheating which rocked the Xbox live world.  It was due to the mili-second timestamp which I heard were all set to 0 on hers.  I take no stand on this issue.

Other issues:

If you have achievements in VS2010 and VS2012, do they both count like xbox games in different regions do?  I would say yes you need to give double cheevos for those.

Yes it would, I would list that along with gamerscore and other things.  It's actually something you can look up instead of someone just listing C# expert on their resume.

The thing that makes cheevos relevant is how many people use it and if it's easy to identify.  Since there is now an ecosystem where the phone, tablet, pc, and console all use these cheevos most people know what it is.  If you have different types of achievements scattered all over the place, it devalues itself in a constant loop.  So if you're in the microsoft environment, there should ONLY be Xbox live achievements.  I don't know the correct process, but can you suggest a support ticket to make these achievements part of the Xbox Live achievements?
