Batteries are brand new (That was the "Is the pc plugged in" answer you gave). I went back and forth with Gov on this one. I pulled the wireless receiver out and put it in a front USB port and Windows8 re-ran the Microsoft Wireless Receiver Installer which fixed the problem. For some reason, when I would unplug and re-plugged the receiver in a rear usb port the issue continued.

With managed and javascript+html5 generally comes much higher stability and security generally speaking.Not that you can't get this in native code, its just less for free.

If we could solve the issues of GC and jitting the MSIL in a parallel manner on phones than I'd much rather stick to managed there.

The only true cross platform UI technology is HTML5+JS.

However, as a technology lead planning out a massive rewrite of our product.... I am pumping the breaks to see where this all goes. WPF and Silverlight may be there, but we don't want to invest in what becomes a * step child.

Check out Weave under the News & Weather category. Its an RSS reader but its does an awwwesome job. I just started using it this week to get news. Its really customizable as far as categories and picking from 130+ already supported and seeded feeds plus you can add your own.

FireFox for example still uses Gecko and it works fine.

 

Charles I agree, although the Media Downloads combo box does blend in so it doesnt jump out at a quick glance. It seems any mention of browsers is going to get the flame war going.

 

For whoever flamed because C9 uses silverlight and not flash, you should wake up and realize flash is just as proprietary. Real open web stardard support would mean using and html5 player. Give it time friend, html5 will be everywhere shortly.
