Yes, video drivers required a bit of work because I used pre-built proprietary driver packages that conflicts with some other video drivers (because packager wanted so) - lines 61-67. Open source drivers works out-of-the-box without tweaks. I installed needed NVidia files without pre-built package. Additional to that I made a small tweak that checks what video card is in use and it chooses a video card driver according to that - like you predicted Smiley

I'm going to make my own packages in the future and use kickstart that builds whole system (bootable and installable ISO-file) with latest system/drivers/applications/etc. with one command.

I didn't have any problems with sound.

I'm running my gaming Linux from hard disk over USB3 which works perfectly. I made a bootable USB stick which boots directly to Steam "Big Picture" UI - works without problems as well.

I see Steam Box quite a direct competitor to consoles. Steam Box with "Big Picture" functionality makes Steam client console-like. Steam Box with Big Picture enabled, a pad and console games is pretty much a console - with cheap games. I guess that's going to be a default setup.

Many games on PC are much more playable with the pad since they are ports from consoles. Some games are even unplayable (Dark Souls) without the pad.

Steam Box gamer's has more choice because they can use mouse+keyboard. Mouse+keyboard makes FPS, strategy (Total War, Civilization, ...), simulators, MUDs, older games, etc. available for gamers additional to more casual pad/console -games.

Steam has 50M users.

According to ComScore the market share of Microsoft in U.S has declined from 3.6% to 3.0%
Well, those number should be take with bucket of salt and I guess the number are outdated as well (numbers includes tablets? no WP8 sales?).

It would be interesting to know what Microsoft thinks about all these numbers. I guess Surface Phone is quite certainly be published this year..? oh, and what would that mean to Nokia ...

If the price is anywhere sane I will buy the developer version of that phone.

It's nice to see how development is compared to Android and WP7 I have worked recently. Android was quite fun to work with (porting JB to BeagleBoard) but I have to say that WP7 has been very painful experience - Visual Studio's dark theme is nice though Smiley. WP7 is just way too closed and restricted to be any fun work with.

I have worked on various MeeGo projects at work and at home, so seeing it still doing well makes me happy. Qt5 is quite impressive on low budget development boards like BeagleBoard-xM and Raspberry Pi, as well [1].

It's very interesting to see how a tiny company like Jolla can survive with MeeGo.
