An I wish that such a package / update-manager is also used for commercial software. I really hat to have 10 different update routines for different application or even need to manually update stuff.

Because such a process runs for a long, long time and therefore even more costly optimizations might pay off. Especially because costly optimizations could run as background task without problems.
Anyway, very I hope will see more interesting research work in this area =)

Goto "Control-Panel" -> "Apperance and Personalisation" -> "Fonts", right-click on the panel, choose "Install New Font".
