I think there's a 10 connection limit on WME though.
Hmm, even my with my limited audience I may get over 10!

I saw a demo of it a few years ago its pretty good.
If you want an Internet radio station, you need Windows Media Services 9 as well.
WMS only comes with Windows Server 2003 Standard (or Above), so no chance of running it on a Linux or desktop NT box.
I think you could just use WME9 without WMS
You would use WME and stream your internal sound cards source.

Why not have the PC with a TV card in the first building then move the recorded TV over the network?

Microsoft CRM is built on .net , i think that's one of Microsoft's biggest .net apps
Also Media Center was once of the first parts of the windows os written in .net -
I use the "cheap" onboard realtek sound card in my Media Center PC and have no issues with audio sync.
Microsoft don't really want you building your own Media Center PC (but most enthusiasts do) they want OEM's to build and test it, so the out of the box experience is a good one.
I have had no major issues with my self build box like the "reviewer" did.
Then again I would say that, i just got a MVP in Media Center
