  I'm hoping the build 'local developer events' .. will be worthwhile and will feature similar giveaways as conference attendees get ... a Surface would be nice .. or maybe a discount coupon for a Surface .. say .. half price?.

  @Indra: .. Its kinda pointless to argue about the superiority of manged versus native code .. the numbers speak for themselves .. but this time I can't resist ... Linq is a C# and VB thing .. its not native .. and as for C# vs C++ here's what the great Charles Petzold says ..   "I became a strong advocate of managed code, and I really haven't had any reason to return to the world of message loops and wayward memory pointers. I already paid my Windows API dues, and plenty of them."

  Actually, I think the opposite is true ... MS, as you likely know, is allowing devs to deeply integrate various services (without charge) in their paid apps .. Bing maps, translation etc ..  all you need is a free developer app key .. some 'REST' and odata based services are available too ... and a number of other companies (like twitter and Netflix and many others) are providing open javascript accessible apis that return Json or XML ...

  Your other point is valid .. it is a quite brittle approach ... but the fact is unless you own the data you always have the issue of somebody changing the api or format.

  Doug Crockford .. the 'Yoda' of JavaScript is excellent .. as always ... any serious web developer who uses JS .. needs to hear this talk ... It may not matter much today but the new standard will matter lots in a year or two!

  Another request ... can we get a few more non-MS interviews ... like say Doug Crockford (I know hes speaking at Mix)

  This is awesome! I haven't seen anything this cool in a long time! ... People have written 'Cloud' based editors and compilers but this is a whole new level of cool! .. intellisense, multi-languages supported, background compilation  .. a debugger is coming .. Wow!

  And all on the Phone!!
