Identification [Identification]

Okay, no laughing, but I have trouble proving my age sometimes. I even get asked for proof of age when purchasing (12) media, so you can imagine how buying (15) stuff is going to be when I'm actually old enough in October.

So, I'm looking to get identification of some sort. A last resort is Fake ID, which isn't too immoral considering nothing on it would actually be fake :P The problem is, a) I don't want to go with the Home Office's solution and b) You've got to be 16 to have ID from there anyways.

So, I've no idea where to turn to get ID now. I could just carry my passport around with me, but then again losing it would be quite a big problem considering their price seems to get higher and higher. It's a pity that society has become a place where you need to be asked your age at every turn... but alas, this is a hurdle I need to jump (keeping in theme with the olympics :P).

Any ideas? I'd like to be able to go and see movies without having to phone home or bring my passport...

edit: it has to be available in the United Kingdom!

Cookies folder? [Cookies folder?]

okay, I found a few tracking cookies I want to get rid of with my monthly AVG scan :)

Anyways, I got the folder, and it was at J:\Users\Lloyd\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies - but I got as far as \Windows before... wait... where's the Cookies folder? I've got "show hidden folders" enabled. So I head to Run and manually type the above - opens fine, all the cookies are there.

So why doesn't it show up in the GUI? Is there a reason for this?

And here's how it currently looks! Awful at the moment, but on Sunday there is going to be much more (and there'll be buildings going up the ceiling :))

I've got a drama final exam to run a show for in about 20 minutes, and I need some help.

We've got this setup: 4x Variable Spotlights, 2 on each T Bar lighting rig (for flexibility). We've also got a pretty much unlimited number of other lights for creating any type of scenario, but we're stumped on this one.

We need to remove some shadows from the performance - without sacrificing too much of the lighting effects. We thought about simply making all the shadows cast backwards, but it looks awful and so we're looking for other options.

So, another thing that crossed my mind was to have an ambient light, so the shadows would remain but they'd be fainter - however this sacrifices our lighting effects and so is a last resort.

Does anybody here have any idea (even if it's just a guess, you never know!) how I can remove them? Google is fruitless, I just keep getting Photo-Editing tutorials (even when I add "live performance".. *sigh*)

Looks like my 7-days without internet have been extended to a whopping MONTH.

This is awful: No internet = no Xbox Live, either. And no working on Continental 8, and having to use schools computers to sift through my 200 junk email a day - something Outlook usually does for me. This SUCKS.

Basically, we needed to change the name on the phonebill, so we phoned BT and told them they didn't need to change anything when we changed the name on the bill - as we were instructed to do by TalkTalk. But of course, BT did change stuff.. and now we've got to re-register as new customers because of stupid conflicts.

*sigh*

(But: 1 June = Laptop day! Once the web gets back, I can order my brand spanking new HP tx2050 :))

Seems my Outlook RSS feed reader is a little messed up. It'll only update the one I'm currently viewing, and this is really starting to annoy me. I've closed'n'restarted outlook to no avail, and my only other option is a reboot... which I can't do for a while due to what is known as "massivus downloadus".

Anybody experiencing the same; know of the issue?

I like the idea of a new C9.. but maybe we could have 2 modes. An axajy C9v3 on a v4 codebase, and a new one.. best of both worlds!

It's weird, cause if I type Firefox 3 Beta 9, it shows up, and anything I type in the search box suddenly becomes an application...

Having just finished watching Dr Who's latest episode (Pompeii)... I found it pretty bad. I think the storyline was completely predictable - and what's up with the part with the escape pod? One minute he's going to die and the next he's just.. not?

I think it was pretty weak. Poorest episode I've seen to date :(

Anybody got the new maps? I've bought them but I'm having some trouble downloading.

I don't get an error code or anything, just a very stupid "Can't download this item".

I've spend 800 points on this thing, I swear to god I'm getting it.. anybody have any ideas whats wrong? Or experiencing similar issues? Seems a lot of people are having trouble.

It's crashed twice in the last half hour. It works fine for a while, then when I try to open up the main console, everything goes white. Or it tells me people who are most definately not signed out are signed out.

I got 3 new updates on WU last night, anybody seeing similar problems?

I finally got to upgrading my RAM and I've been looking around. First off, I've got a couple of questions...

I'm looking at 2GB of OCZ PC2-4200 ram on eBuyer, for £30 delivered. It's got 4-4-4-12 latency. I also saw some OCZ Pro for £50 which has 3-3-3-12 latency. I was just wondering if there was a noticable difference? Also, the 3-3-3-12 RAM isn't quite right; my PCs RAM is rated at 1.8V, and the OCZ Pro is rated at 1.9V - how hard would that be to change, and would there be anything else involved?

Otherwise, I'm just wondering if there's a massive difference between 2 and 4GB RAM? As in, noticably. I've noticed that lately when I've been running blend/word/corel/outlook at the same time... 1GB just isn't up to it! So it's definately time for an update.

I've got to say, Expression Blend has some of the best help/documentation I've ever seen. It's absolutely brilliant. Somebody head to building 42 and tell those guys they've done a brilliant job. Mind you, they wouldn't have to have amazing documentation (because it is just that) if their controls (well, one so far, but I've been using this product for like 8 days so..) were easier to suss out in the first place.

I hope they see this, cause I've got one question (and if they don't, can somebody over these send an email or something?):

Why the hell is the FlowDocumentReader so difficult to use? Editing it's text property is buried under no less than 4 menus, and editing that text is kindof stupid, considering the area you have to edit text is your typical one-line textbox thats about 50px long. Now, considering the nature of the FlowDocumentReader, this makes absolutely no sense, because it's designed to view larger documents - typing them directly into Blend is absolutely not an option. How hard would it be to add a bigger box to edit in :(
It makes one of my favourite controls (cause it looks awesome out-of-the-box, and has some cool functionality) retarded in a way.

I was wondering if anybody can help me out (or point me in some general direction). After googling for some FlowDocument guides, I've not come up with much.

Given the nature of Blend, I wasn't expecting to have to manually delete code to get it working, but I discovered that deleting the <RichTextBox> tags (highlighted red) allows the FlowDocument to display the text - otherwise all that displays is a blank FDReader. I'm pretty sure this isn't the way to do it, considering I have to re-add the tags to edit the text - so can anybody tell me whether I'm doing this right, or more likely wrong - and how I can fix it/do it right?

The Wikis on the current C9 don't get used much - I was wondering what's going to happen in v4?

I was thinking that maybe C8 and C9 "share" a wiki - saves the two having seperate wikis (I think C8 would make more use of a wiki, but this is of course less work and less maintainance).

Since I started with Continental 8 a few months back, we've been working on some interesting stuff. However, since I discovered I wouldn't be able to become an MSP properly, I kindof lost heart... but that heart is back :) I decided to do a few Expression Blend tutorials, as a way of keeping interest in the project up - because there are definately some interesting things to come.

So, I hope you enjoy my first part of what will probably be a 10-15 part series.

Is there a way I can keep the cursor when I Print Screen?

I don't really want to install new things (SnagIt, etc.) in order to do such a simple task.. is there a way I can do it? I suppose I could just paste a picture of the cursor on top, but I have quite a lot of Screen capp'n to do, so that'd take too much time..

All of a sudden, FireFox 3 Beta 4 doesn't want to post. It's been fine, up until like 3 minutes ago. Now, I don't know if this is relevant, but I got an "unencrypted connection" dialog box just before it did the whole red-star-because-there's-no-message thing.

Can somebody PLEASE look into this. For some crazy reason I don't like IE, and I love my rocket themed FireFox! I'm begging you guys :(

Could anybody explain the 4n-X part to me? I'm completely lost.

I've got a homework in tomorrow concerning it (last minute, I know, don't call me on it).

I know the rest, L(T)=n + (N-g)+(N-2g)+(n+1), but there's also some "simplified" equation I'm supposed to write about, concerning 4n-X, or 4n-X+1 etc.

I'm sure somebody knows what I'm on about :P
