A Whole NUI World: Microsoft Surface 2 and Windows Touch
Apr 15, 2011 at 1:17 PMRegarding the ability to read Microsoft Tags displayed in a touch screen -- yes! You should be able to perform similar actions on any Windows machine. All you have to do is generate a unique tag for the content you want to link to it (Check the Microsoft Tag API here), and then scan the tag on your smartphone of choice. (tag reader available for most phones out there).

Surface Toolkit for Windows Touch
Apr 15, 2010 at 4:20 PMMicrosoft Surface actually uses 5 infrared cameras, the image gets stitched together and reported through the Raw Image APIs to you. Take a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee804751.aspx for more information.
Notice that the Microsoft Surface Toolkit for Windows Touch Beta obviously uses different input. It actually uses the input from the touch enabled PC (no cameras included).
thanks!
