The web-site they provided everyone doesn't work correctly. After speaking to someone else beta testing Messenger Live, and after we both experienced the same thing, I don't believe it is an isolated case.

The web-site presents an error message when you try and use it, and if you try again you get told your e-mail address has already downloaded it.

So if anyone working in or across from the Messenger Live wants to comment then that would be appreciated.

PS - I don't use third party themes. But as Microsoft has sent the same thing to tens of thousands of people they might want to fix it or have some angry thirteen year old girls on their hands <IMG src="http://channel9.msdn.com/emoticons/emotion-4.gif>

in reply to Microsoft free gift (bug?)

<evnet:views>4468</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/204811/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>I tried to contact them to let them know, but like with a lot of big corporate entities they are contact-less. I have to decide between a Duel Core CPU or a standard P4 with 400 Mhz more speed (3 Ghz Duel, or 3.4 Ghz std).

I might run Windows Vista (if I buy it) on this CPU, so that is an important factor. They both support 64 Bit extensions.

The Dual core would run single applications like games slower than the faster single core CPU, or at least I would imagine... But the dual will make multi-tasking with things like Visual Studio and Office much smoother.

I'm working on a number of assumptions, some might be wrong, so can you check me on them...

- Monolithic applications (e.g. Full Screen Games) that don't multi-thread well will run faster on the single core
- The Operating System will automatically distribute running processes across the two cores (e.g. Visual Studio -> Core #1, Internet Explorer -> Core #2)
- The Operating System will allow a process to run on BOTH cores if it has more than one thread and the other core is not too busy
- 64 Bit Applications (And an OS) will behave the same as the 32 Bit equivalent in relation to a dual and or single core (One of the other won't gain an advantage if I switched to 64 bit)
- The single core's cache (2 MB) will allow SOME applications to run faster than the dual's smaller cache (2x1 MB)
- 95% of applications aren't written to multi-thread well ...
- Dual Core will lockup less than the single core

Thoughts? Experience? Opinions? -- Anything?

Footnote: I don't just want to go with a dual core "because it is the latest thing." So in long texts when I am tired I might have two instances of notepad open covering over these stupid ads.

I blame Flash but IE can take some of the blame too...

Why is it that flash doesn't let you STOP flash animations THAT RUN ON MY COMPUTER and why is it that flash doesn't let you MUTE sound that is being played ON MY COMPUTER?

The people who wrote the Flash Player must have contempt for their users... Who would design a player that gives complete control to content providers?

I said IE gets some of the blame... The reason being that they don't allow you to write plugins that block content from pages... They only allow toolbar and menu items to be added... When Firefox and Opera allows people to write plugins that block this content and Firefox user's have enjoyed using these plugins now for years.

These types of ads have resulting in me NOT using a number of sites including howstuffworks.com. </Rant>
in reply to Anyone else sick of Flash Player?

<evnet:views>2369</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/189466/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>I'm SO sick of these stupid flash ads that are animated and blink away when your trying to read...
