For an extension, making Hyperlinks in the text perform any command, see http://www.codeproject.com/KB/silverlight/InteractiveText.aspx.

In http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Using-the-GridSplitter-control-in-Silverlight-2-Beta-1.aspx Nikolay Raychev uses an additional column (or row) just for the splitter and this worked better in my case.
