at least have 20GB of space and should support as much audio formats as possible (wma and ogg would be cool). Also it should not require any addtional software to be installed on my windows XP machine (should be working as a simple external usb drive).
Overall hardware quality is also important. Price is not that important
Any ideas? Channel9 is always perfect for these kind of questions (lots of techies around
You could look into the
iAudio X5. I don't have one myself, but it looks like those who do, like it quite a bit. It also seems to satisfy all your requirements. In fact, it's quite possibly the most "feature-rich" device I've seen so far, although I have no idea how it is in terms
of useability. You might want to look for reviews to see what people are saying about it.

Like Larry, I also like the Creative Zen Vision:M. I currently have a 5GB Zen Micro that does everything I want, but the Vision:M looks like a nice successor to it.

Yeah, I've been beta testing it on a 2.4GHz P4 laptop with 512MB of RAM, and I was surprised by the performance too. Not quite as snappy as XP on the same machine, but it's also been getting better with each monthly CTP, even though new features keep getting
Yeah, it looks similar to the sort of thing Dell and other systems vendors do - they ship a trial version of sorts with their machines, and once the trial subscription expires, Symantec gets the revenue through subscription renewals.

Coffeehouse - Behemoth Mobile PC

Actually, it weighs about 18 lbs.

It's not really meant as a replacement for laptops. I guess one can think of it as something a university student would use - a desktop-like machine with a large 20" display that he/she can carry back home during holidays.

Of course, it's still just a prototype (albeit a fully functional one), so things could change, including the size/weight etc.

Coffeehouse - RSS Icon confirmed for IE7

I've always liked the orange Firefox feed icon.

Glad to see it being adopted by Microsoft for IE 7. It'll be nice to have one consistent icon to represent feeds in both browsers. Others like Opera should join in too.

Coffeehouse - Windows Live Messenger is Live

Been using this for a few days (got an early invitation), and I should mention that this release actually adds quite a number of useful features, unlike some of the previous releases where all we got were winks and nudges. =)

Here's a list of new stuff on the official blog:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/MessengerSays/Blog/cns!1pa8Iikfy0xU3xf4W911Jq4Q!1607.entry

Haven't had a chance to try out Shared Folders yet, but that sounds handy and interesting. We finally get things like offline messaging too.

I resized a 3.2MP image using mspaint (only thing available on the machine I was on at the time), which is probably why it ended up looking very little like me.
