I have a Surface RT and had an Acer W700. The Atom on the Acer is 32 bits only and supports 2Gb of RAM. While it's possible to install VS2k12+WP7 dev tools, developing on that setup is practically impossible. Outlook is borderline viable if you disable a bunch of addons.

Battery life is definitely *not* the same. Maybe with Haswell it will improve, but for now ARM holds that crown easily.

Unless you absolutely need to run some Win32 app that has no Metro equivalent, there's no contest on the overall usefulness of a ARM/RT tablet vs a Win8/Atom one.

But the Congress is elected by the people. So any lack in legislation should be easily corrected via a vote, right?

Never mind that Windows Phone pretty much doubled its marketshare worldwide.

All patented inventions I made while working at Microsoft (eh, only four of them) are Microsoft's property. The *paid me* to do exactly that and I got a monetary, one-time, patent award, a black cube for the patent submission and - when the patents are registered in a couple of years - a nice plaque to put on the wall.

Same thing occurs in any other company. Except for the cubes, and those are cool.

But that's not what's happening here, right?

Valid patents, that Android manufacturers recognized and licensed. It's a perfectly fine business, especially since it's not like Microsoft is sitting on these patents without producing anything similar... I can't see where the "trolling" is, in this cases.

For an example on how NOT to do licensing, look up Motorola.
