PerfectPhase PerfectPhase "This is not war, this is pest control!" - Dalek to Cyberman
  • Continuum

Not announced anything, but they're saying they need a silicon change so that the processor can drive two displays at different resolutions.

  • Window container support on client

Anyone know if I can use the new windows container support in a client OS, or if it will only be available in the server SKU?

  • Stop the madness!

@evildictaitor: On my 10074 (Enterprise) you only have Automatic and Notify in that drop down at the moment.

@Bass:In the talks about this they described the editor as have three levels of language support

    1) Colourise and brace matching

    2) Intellisense  (i.e. C# via omnisharp)

    3) Refactor  (i.e. C# via rosyln)

They said that at the moment in the preview only C# and Typescript were at level three, level 2 languages are CSS, Less, HTML and JavaScript; but there were about 30 at level one.  They also mentioned it supports TextMate bundles, which is where most of the level one support was coming from.  They plan to open up the extension model to allow third party support of L2 and L3 in the next couple of drops.

For example they are looking at using Clang for C++ L3 extension support.

  • Raspberry Pi and Windows 10 hands on

Use the most basic mouse you can, I tried with a fancy wireless mouse and it didn't work, tried with a much more basic version and it was fine.

  • Hololens HANDS ON

Just had my hands on and it is awesome!

Lets get the negatives out the way, field of vision of the projections is limited, but you get used to that after a few minutes, your brain adapts, and the colours are a bit washed out around light sources, we got to try it in a darkened room with a couple of artificial light sources.

But none of that matters because the thing is frickin awesome to use :)

The tracking is *rock* steady, its so stable, once you place something, it's glued in place, there is no jitter.  you can walk around it, through it; the hand gestures come naturally, speech recognition is good.

The thing that will make or break this are the apps, its going to need a whole new mind set to write apps for this!

The best bit was the last task I had to do involved an X-Wing fighter that I had hanging in the middle of the room, that I could walk around and interact with.  When I took the hololens off, I caught my self doing a double take when I looked over to where it had been, it seemed wrong that that it wasn't there any more, my brain had just accepted that it was a real thing in the real world and it was wrong that it had vanished!

You can't compare it to the oculus VR or the like, it's something different.

Was kind of a let down to get the email that we couldn't get to try it after they made such a big deal about them bringing "hundreds" for us to try.

I original got an email, telling me sorry - bad luck no HoloLense for you, then a late tonight got a reprieve :)

@TexasToast:Still like Vegas for these things, plenty of space, plenty of easy places to meetup and hangout outside the event.
