I have a service running on a server in my domain that needs to be able to read and update data in a sharepoint list. This is a simple list with numeric and text fields only.

Was wondering what the easiest/best way of getting access to the data is?

I want a multi-touch tablet to run windows7.

This is a want, not a need, I want to play, so with that in mind what's a good one? I don't plan on doing devwork or anything, so I'm not after a beast of a machine, more something thin and light weight with good battery life if possible!

So any suggestions?

Anyone doing WCF (3.5 SP1) development on Windows 7?

I'm finding that I quite frequently need to do iisreset where IIS wanders off into its own little world causing the clients to time out on even the most basic of services, even when the debugger isn't attached. I have this problem on two machines.

Is this a problem for anyone else?

Anyone know if registration of TechEd Europe is open? www.microsoft.com/europe/teched redirects to http://www.microsoft.com/emea/teched2008/ while the graphics say 2009 but there appears to be no registration info.

I've been using VS2010 for the last week and as of today, the UI will not start, I just see devenv sitting in the task list.

Before I go and re-install, anyone else seen this and have an answer?

Is anyone using the symbol and source sever support from the debugging toolkit with Team Build 2008?

I'm look for a good set of instructions and if it works for you, or should I wait for the built in support in TFS2010?

So I have a solution that currently has 6 console apps that are hosting services for debugging. Every time I F5 the console sindows stack up on top of my instance of VS, even though I have other monitors. So I drag them out the way, watch the debug info that each writes and then stop the solution. Every Time I start the solution running I have to do this.

So my question is, is there a VS addin or feature that can control the layout of these console windows for me?

Just notice something strange, if you go to a video such as http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/martinesmann/Don-Syme-FSharp-and-functional-programming-in-NET/ and click the WMV (High) link and close wmp, then drop the list down again the WMV (High) option is missing. Doesn't matter which link you click, it always vanishes.

IE8 on Vista-SP1 x64

I'm looking around for for some larger WPF samples, things like the http://www.photosuru.com/ sample or http://familyshow.codeplex.com/

Anyone got any others they could suggest, the must contain all the source. More LOB type apps like Lawson Mango would be handy, but anything cool would be good :)

I'm currently looking at developing a large distributed product that would really benefit from a good ESB product to underpin it. At the moment we're looking at Neuron.ESB from Neudesic.

The catch being that we want to sell an 'Express' single server low end version of this product as well and Neuron's pricing makes that a bit unfeasible so I've been looking at open source options such as ESB.NET, nServiceBus, SimpleServiceBus and MassTransit and while all are a good projects, they are all missing something we would need. This is not a problem as we can add what we need, but will take time.

So I was wondering if anyone had any others that they use and would recommend for use with c# and maybe WCF?

I have a strange problem, I have a server (Windows 2003) with >100Gb spare on a share, when I try and copy ~2G to it, be it lots of small files or one big one, I get an out of space warning. The client is Vista x64 SP1. If I log on to the server and copy from the client all is well.

Both file systems are NTFS, copying with xcopy or robocopy works, just fails from within explorer in vista.

Anyone else come across this and found an answer?

Cloning Windows 2008 + SQL 2008 [Cloning Windows 2008 + SQL 2008]

I need to deploy 10+ SQL Servers and was wondering what the quickest supported way is these days.

They are all on the same hardware and I have no problems cloning the disks if needed. The machines will be joined to a domain after they are cloned/installed.

Is it some mix of sysprep, do I clone before I install sql server? If I clone after and change the machine name is there anything I have to fix?

I'm currently using DBCC INPUT buffer in a trigger to get the SQL that was executed on a connection, something like this

CREATE TABLE #inputbuffer
(
    EventType nvarchar(30),
    Parameters int,
    EventInfo nvarchar(MAX)
)
SET @ExecStr = 'DBCC INPUTBUFFER(' + STR(@@SPID) + ')'
INSERT INTO #inputbuffer EXEC (@ExecStr)
SET @QueryString = (SELECT EventInfo FROM #inputbuffer)

Does anyone know another way of doing this? I've looked at sys.dm_exec_sql_text but I can only seem to get the currently executing SQL statement, not the intial SQL for the connection.

Best way to capture from a webcam in c# [Best way to capture from a webcam in c# ]

I have a little personal project I working on that does some image processing from a webcam captured via DirectShow.Net and displays it in a winforms apps.

I'm just starting to look into moving that app to WPF and as DirectShow.NET isn't really a support product and is causing me know end of pain with regards to changing the capture resolution I was wondering what the best way to get a video stream from a webcam, process each frame, extract some data from that frame and display in in WPF is these days staying a much as possible inside c#.

Moatherboard Choice [Moatherboard Choice]

As a little project, I'm build a new machine to run a Hyper-V workload. I have two E5420 processors and I can't decide which motherboard to go with. This machine will run only Windows 2008/Hyper-V, so things like graphics don't matter.

So the choice is between Tyan Tempest i5400PW or i5400PL Initial memory will be 8Gb and with virtual workloads being able to to stuff as much ram as possible into the box over time would be a good thing so that's a plus for the PW, where as the PL is Intel and Windows2008 certified.

Which would you chose :)

I been downloading all the PDC content over the last few days (60Gb, wow! Thankyou!) and it would have been really nice if the tags could have been included in videos files.

Is there a way to get a doc with all the PDC videos speakers, comments and tags, so I don't have to resort to screen scraping channel9?
