Ive downloaded and installed it all sucessfully and I started to play about with WPF however, I can't get it to compile. I keep getting the error:

Error 1 Required file 'alink.dll with IAlink3' could not be found

I have done some digging around online and saw that there was a workaround that in the image file in the wcu\dotNetFramework\dotNetMSP\z86 folder there was 3 updates to install. Unfortunatley in mine there was only 2? i seem to be missing the following update

Windows6.0-kb930264-x86.msu

So i run the 2 updates and still the the error happens. Has anyone else had this issue or can some1 send me the 3rd update?

Yes I know its only a beta but would be good to play about with it. Oh I have it running on a Vista Business machine, might be of some use :P.

Ok so i've never really done ASP.NET before so i thought it would be a good start to make a ticketing system. Now I'm going to need a database to store the tickets etc and user security. My problem is that creating users and roles with the ASP.NET configuration tool puts them in a seperate database to the database that will be used store the tickets.

However, the tickets need a relationship to the user that submited it. Can someone suggest the best way to do this? E.g build the users and roles into the database that stores the tickets or is it possible to create a relationship between 2 tables in different databases? Or any other way, i did notice the provider tab in the configuration tool but it didnt really have many options.

Hi all, Im currently wokring on a little mini browser in C# and im trying to find a way to set it as the default browser using a dialog, similar to what you see in fire fox, etc.

I would be very greatful if someone could indicate a way or maybe share some code to help. I know there is a key in the registry however, I don't know where the key is and how i change it and/or add a new one for my application.

Does any one know of how to get the build date and time when there is a successful build?

Basiclly i want to retun the build date and time to a label on an about box.... is this possible?

I know there are post build events but im not sure what u do with these and perhaps it could be done there?

Hey, well im wokring on a new project in C#. I have a tool bar with a toolStripDropDownButton. When this menu is brought down i want it to add items for the amount of tabs i have on my tab control... like it does with that active tabs button on VS2005. So far i have this to add them items:

However, when i open it and open it again it just keeps adding the items again and making one big list down the page. Maybe its bad logic on my part, no wait it is my bad logic/coding lol, but i was wondering if some1 could point me in the right direction as to make it so it just gets them the once.

I have maybe been thinking it needs the use of an Arraylist or something along them lines.

Well to day i was sitting in school doing course work as you do :P, and i had 4 BSOD in like 1:30 - 2 hrs. It keeps coming up with something like IRQ_DRIVER _NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS.. ok no idea what that means :S.

But here is the strange part. For some reason this only ever occurs when im in my school, and never when im at home. Wierd.

Its so annoying becuase ill be right in the middle of something and on a role and all of a suddeen it just goes :@ and then have to wait for it all ot boot up again. it sasy its created a .dmp file somewhere lol but i cnt find it.

i think ull prob need more info but any one have any ideas on what that irq thing means or how i could fix it or reduce the amoutn of times it happens.

Hi, im trying to insert a record into a database, it compiles fines. But for some reason it wont insert into the database.

Code:

ok so i was tesing click once on my school project, trying to get it to connect to a remote webite. it failed because he doesnt have frontpage extensions installed. now it wont let me remove the remote website under publish. And it fails every time i try and build thus i cnt run any code . btw im using j# express, if it helps. Please help :(.

Is there a way in .net to get the my documents directory? I have an open file dialog for my app and on every computer it gets installed on to i want it to open in the users my documents directory. in J# i tried Directory.getCurrentDirectory(); but thats the directory of the application. I also tried looking on MSDN Help but couldnt find any thing. Any help would be great! :D

Ok so i decided to make a tabbed browser in C# express, but im having some trouble trying to get the web browser control on th selected tab, to navigate to what is typed in a combo box on a tool strip. This is what i tried:

        private void goToolStripButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

Hey bit of a noob question i think lol but here goes. How would i go about adding a button to a tab page in c#. This is a mock up of what i made in in photoshop. click here to see image .

I dont really now how to go about doing this. I tried to do it in vs2005 express but there was no built in way to do it... at least i didnt find it anyways if there is. Would i have to make my own control or what?

Ok, so what i have is ComboBox on a ToolStrip, and what i want to do is populate that combo box with all of the installed fonts on a windows machine... only problem is i have no idea at all how to do this... im assuming some API is involved? By the way im doing this in J#.

I have googled it and can't find anything relating to what i want to do. Perhaps im searching for the wrong thing.

Could someone please help me with this problem, it would be very much appreciated.

Ok, so what im doing is creating a tabbed notepad as just kind of like a small project and its coming a long quite nicely. Im using Visual J# 2005 Express Edition.

However, i have hit a snag and tis probably really easy to do its just im new to this .net framwork programming and programming in general.

I have manged to get my tab control to create a new tab when the new button is clicked and i have also managed to add a rich text box control every time a new tab is opened, but what i can do is dock the rich text box on the tab and set its border style to none... i have tried various methods of doing it. This is the code im using to make a new tab:

TabPage NewDocumentTab = new TabPage ();
tabcontrol1.get_TabPages().Add(NewDocumentTab);
NewDocumentTab.get_Controls().Add(new RichTextBox());

I tried this to dock the rich text box:

NewDocumentTab.get_Controls().Add(new RichTextBox(set_Dock(DockStyle.Fill)));

But i couldn't get it to work I know this is a probably such an easy thing to do, but i just cant figure it out.

Hi all,

I am currently studying java at my school as part of my oracle course.

My teacher, over the half term decided to set us three problems, and the third one he cant even do him self, so he admitted today, he just gave us it to see if one of us could do it lol. :D

And i was woundering if anyone out there could do this and show me how it was done. OK so heres the problem:

Assignment Java-4a (Say)

Purpose: To learn how to build and access an array.

Write a program that will read in a number from 0 to 99 and spell out that number. The program must also report any values that are out of range.

In other words, I want to type

    java Say 22

and see

    twenty-two

To do this, you will need to know how to:

build and access an array

Instructor's solution:

77 lines ( 2 methods ) including 13 comment lines and 7 blank lines

Assignment Java-4b (Say)

Purpose: To learn how to create method(s) and how to use the iterative development process to make a big program.

Modify Java 4a so you can handle numbers as large as nine hundred ninety-nine billion, nine hundred ninety-nine million, nine hundred ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine.

Extra credit if you can do it with less than 40 strings.

To do this, you will need to know how to:

make your own methods

take baby steps to make a big program

Instructor's solution:

115 lines ( 4 methods ) including 19 comment lines and 8 blank lines

It would be great if some one could do it. Its not mainly the first part as such its the second part (java-4b).
