I would like to create a custom exploere bar to internet explorer using html pages instead of a com object, is there a way to access the main window from within the html page that's loaded in the exploere bar, so for example the exploere bar should show the current selected element in the main page?

Which one do i use? how do i make a bootable dvd from that?

Transactions Issue [Transactions Issue]

I have 2 sql statements, the first inserts a row to the order table, the second inserts items to the order table.

The second step can take a long time and sometimes we can get a timeout error from ado.net, but i dont want to have the order record if the items are not going to be added, so i want the first statement to be rolledback if second statment fails.

My question is if the following will work

BEGIN TRANSACTION
   STEP 1 INSERT.....
   STEP 2 INSERT.....

IF @@ERROR <> 0
BEGIN
    ROLLBACK
    RETURN
END

COMMIT

Since the timeout will come from ado.net the following can hapen, either the IF @Error will never return <>0 or the line will never execute.

So how do i handle such situations when the error can be a timeout error and not any other error.

Can someone guid me how i can implement Intellisense in my own application i want to allow pepole to write C# or VB.NET i have done everythig to allow it, but i want to give them intellisense when writing the code? is ther any ready components that does background compilation or would help with any aspect of this

If a network card has 1 Gb per second capebility, and i send a 2 gb file, will the transfare take 2 sec? my question is will the system use the full capacity of a network card when transfering? because i have never seen my netwrok trafic percentage should go up, only when transfaring multiple files, but never on a single file.

I want to get 2 datatables with relationships between them, but instead of loading the 2 tables separately I want to load them both together using an Inner join then divide it into 2 datatables with relationships, is there a built in system how to do it? Or do I have to manually split the resulting data into 2 datatables

I have a sql server database which is now 25 GB of data, this DB is only going to get bigger and bigger, is it possible to some-how make a farm of computers to: store the database on multiple hardderives and process the data on multiple processors? How do other companies which have TB's of data go about this?

Oh! maybe the only way is to split up the tables betwen several DB and from the application call use differnt connectionstrings?

What's your idea about it?

I could not find a good book or online tutorial how to make good error handling and error display in a shrink wraped application writen in C# or Vb.net. can someone help me with that? here is an example of a situation

I have a utility function that loads up lists in memory. lets call it RefreshList, if there is any error happening in this function i need to display a clear message like "Could not reload the lists, [Reason]" but where do i put the code to display the message 1) In the function? 2) Outside the function?. i initialy decided to put it inside the function since i call tis function from several places in the application, but after that i see that i needed to try...catch outside the function because if there is an error reloading the lists i want to disable some menues. so do i have tones of such error handling design questions

I wasn’t participating in this forum for a long time, I was busy busy! (Very busy) developing this new site, it's has a lot of technologies in it, and it uses IIS to the max (3 Million Records of Photos, 8 Terabytes of Space) it was launched today www.adoramapix.com.

Does somebody know if it's possible to reload an activex control embedded in an HTML page, without reloading the page? I want to be able to dynamically load the ActiveX control with differnt property settings. i cannot just change the propeties of the control because the control is build that it reads the values when it initializes and then sets a local variable, which i don't have access to later on. so i wasnt to realod the activex with different paramas without reloading the page.

I know i can use SELECT TOP x to select x records, but i ned for example from the 10th record till the 20th.

I have html email templates which i fill up with values using xslt using an XML source.

The HTML has to be in a valid XML format to be able to transform it. now, i want to fill the src element of an IMG element using <value-of-select="ImagePath"> the problem is the that the src is an attribute of the img element, is it possible to transform an attribute using the <value-of-select> tag?

Is this possible?
<Img src="<value-of-select="Image/SourcePath">">
