I wrote a blog entry right after WinHEC called "Why the WinHEC Longhorn build really shows progress..." so I won't repost my feelings here .

The thing I really want to know about is how Paul was allowed to post those screenshots. At WinHEC, Microsoft told me that I could not post screenshots of this build on Bink.nu and Extended64.com. Neowin and Paul Thurrott were told to take their screenshots down, and I was sitting 3 feet away from Paul when he removed the screenshots.

He gets away with so much .

Heh, yeah, when the camera goes to Scoble and you can still partially see her face, she looks totally uninterested.

Otherwise, I enjoyed this interview . Scoble is, as always, right on about the power of the blogger.

And hmm, it's great to see my site being mentioned on C9 without a huge complaint attached .

It's okay that you're blocking the ads, because that's your right (I guess..) but, I'm sure you can understand it from a site owner's perspective.

The C9 forums are based on the ASP.NET/CommunityServer Forums. It just so happens that TelligentSystems (maker of CommunityServer) has a plugin that enables NNTP access to the forums.

Although this doesn't apply to C9, most online forums wont want you to be able to retrieve content via NNTP because you wouldn't see their banner ads .

I see your point, but any traffic is good traffic (adapted lol). Good news is, after frequenting C9 since it's begining, it finally got me to register and post.

I guess I have a thing about registering for websites: I try to avoid registering at all costs, but once I am registered, I post and become active. I don't know why I'm like that... I guess everyone has their weird things .

From my own observations durring my short two day visit to Redmond last year, the people at Microsoft are pretty hard working and committed. They've made some great products, and are constantly working to improve them (as we are seeing with IE7).

So, for once, let's stop second guessing Microsoft. Believe me, when it comes down to it, they always want to do the right thing.

What kinda huge company would think about setting up something like C9? It's these type of things which Microsoft is doing that I think we're forgetting about.

OT: I wonder why MS is having so many chats with AMD people (they had one yesturday..) and not many with Intel people. Personally, I'm an AMD guy, so it doesn't matter *that* much.. LOL

Funny thing is, if you get back to the original source with the actual picture, it's a photograph of Windows Media Player 10 playing a video.

I can do the same thing with a program like Adobe Premiere Pro and play it in WMP10.

I'd like to thank everyone who nominated me and Steven Bink!

Although this is already on page 10+, I'd like to make my nomination: Paul Mooney (C9 Username: Eagle)

If you read Scoble's blog, you'd see that Paul actually called Scoble and tried to make sure that Team 99 had many 64-bit computer users on it.

In my opinion, Paul gets this stuff better then anyone here. Paul is a developer, a blogger, and he knows where Longhorn needs to be. Most importantly, Paul is a real nice guy who would be a valuable asset to Team 99.

Actually, Bink.nu posts most Channel 9 videos to our frontpage, and we also post other important C9 things. I frequent Channel 9, because of the great information that people contribute here.

And *sigh*, if it's a popularity contest, I won't have a shot: I'm the behind-the-scenes guy .

I understand how you might get the wrong impressions from my post on Bink.nu, but just understand that I'm not forcing anyone to nominate anyone.

You might not be talking about me specifically but I'll respond anyway. I might have registered for C9 yesturday, but I've been watching C9 videos and reading posts at C9 since it's start. The time you spend posting on C9 should not really influence your chances for getting into Team 99. I run two websites with community forums, and I help a friend with a third. You can't post in every forum on the internet at the same time .

Durring the Featured Community Summit in Redmond last November, I had the privlidge of meeting Tom Koch, an Outlook Express MVP. I'd love to see his reaction to this article!

I use Outlook Express quite often when I need a quick viewer for reading an IMAP mailbox. OE also does a pretty good job for me with the MS newsgroups, I've yet to find something that I like more.

Oh, okay. Well, I'm sure all this advocating stuff will work both ways. It seems that being on Team 99 pretty much assures you a close relationship with Microsoft, and I for one will make sure to pass on the suggestions and comments that I recieve (if I'm lucky enough to be on Team 99).

If I'm understanding the jist of Team 99: these 20 selected people will become everyone's advocates. If you want to see something in Longhorn, it will be the job of Team 99 to listen.

Well, thank you Paul Mooney for nominating me (I'm Ryan Hoffman) and Steven Bink way back on page 2.

Interestingly enough, Scoble blogged about Paul calling him up and telling him that there needs to be a lot of 64-bit representation on Team 99. I hope Paul dropped my name on that phone conversation, as I own Extended64.com .

I think Scoble is going to have a very fun time figuring out how to only pick 20 people for this. I guess us hopefuls can only try to get noticed. I blogged this entry on "Why I Should Be On Team 99", and also posted a plea on Bink.nu for people to come over and support me and Steven.

With only room for 20 people, I think We all can easily name 100 people who we think should be on Team 99.

I think the people complaining, are people making sure they don't feel bad when they are not picked. This is a classic defense mechanism: "I'm not going to have any expectations but failure, so not only will I not try, but I will bash the people who do try"

I realize that my odds of being picked for Team 99 are very slim, so I'm doing my best to get noticed, and I'm blogging about myself so Scoble can understand who I am and why I should be on Team 99. If I don't get picked for Team 99, sure I'll be upset, but I'll also repect the people picked for Team 99, and I'll support them in any way.

And guys, stop nitpicking the requirements. I personally feel that there should be more requirements when it comes to this: just look at that huge thread of nominations.
