  • .NET - Create SCORM 2004 Package

Does anyone know how to programatically (in .NET, C# or VB.NET) create a SCORM 2004 package?

If so, can you provide insight...

    Thanks

  • I'm feeling a little down..

I feel ya brother.  I'm the same way about the TV Show "Third Watch".

  • Certifications (SCNS, MSCE, etc)

I am MCAD Certified, but I have never got a job or project becuase of it. It's a big plus, but not a requirement (here in Holland).

It all depends on the market of the country and the pickyness of your employers. Personally, I wager a degree higher then certification. Certification will only get you onto projects and a degree will get you a better job IMHO.

The certifications I did, where a big eye opener for Microsoft technologies. They tend to have some questions about features you wouldnt use in the field, wich force you to look around in the framework or server. The questions where a bit..... odd.

I did no do any payed studies, I just studied in my own time.

I would say that a degree is priority number one, experience number two and certifications number three. But if you don't have one or two, I'd say number three is a must.
Good deal.  Great response Maddus; in response to your MCAD certification -- how was the process layed out?

You stated that you studied on your own what you thought was going to be on the test; that's great.  What happend after that?

I'd assume you scheduled an exam for the required items through a testing center?  Upon passing the exams (how long did you have to wait before you found out you passed each exam), what was the next step -- did Microsoft automatically know you passed and send you a certification letter with certificate in the mail, or how exactly does the process continue after you take the tests.

    Thanks,
    Travis

P.S.; I've got lots of experience, but no degree -- thus being the reason why I am thinking of certifications.  I have many certifications through ExpertRating, but as it seems they are not an industry recognized certification leader/partner -- so I'm thinking of MCITP for Server Administrator and Database Administrator, and then SCNP for Network Security.  Any further advice is appreciated.

  • Certifications (SCNS, MSCE, etc)

Is anyone here SCNS TPD certified, or MCSE certified, or anything else certified?

I'm wondering a few things; what are good certifications for someone that wants to be a mix between a developer and a server/network administrator.

Also, anyone who is certified can you PM me or add me to MSN so we can discuss the exam.  I don't feel like buying a $700.00 study package when I can just study a bit about it and prepare based on what others tell me, and thne just pay the $150.00 testing fee.

Another questions is are the certifications actually worth anything, or would it be better to...

    1. Go for an associates degree in computer science
    2. Get some certifications (above).
    3. Rely on my experience in the industry to show the employer that I know what I'm doing.

    Thanks,
    Travis

  • Bank Account Fraud - ... wow

It's the porno, I'm tellin' ya Steve... you've got to go to a pornoholics anonymous meeting next Wednesday.

On a serious side; I don't know what else you can do other than call the bank.  I know you were talking about this with me earlier on MSN, but man I don't know.  Terminate your account and re-create under a different account number.

But really, next Wednesday we're having breadsticks... come by. lol j/k, j/k

  • Written Logic Test

I had to do one of those kind of tests about 7 years ago. It had a number of parts.

One part it gave you a number of syntax rules and you then had to check that lines matched them. Another part had a "conceptual programming" language e.g. it had different symbols that represented different programming tasks e.g. triangle meant add 2.

I thought it went fine and it did fine apart from the above section where I got muddled up as to how this language worked. This error then carried through the other 10 questions on it meaning I got almost all of one section was wrong.

You can train for these kind of tests e.g iq type puzzels or that brain game on the Wii. Somewhat subjectively I am not sure they are necessarirly a good indicator of a good developer but guess it allows companies to cut their short list down. I think people with a maths background would score well on some of these type of things.
Well I don't feel like so much of an idiot now lol.

Yesterday I went for a pre-interview test for a programming / database admin position at a company; I wish I could remember the actual name of the test but I can't.

    It consisted of three parts...
    Part One
    Questions: 25 (I beleive)
    Time: 10 minutes

    Example of step one questions:
Based on the following pattern select the next letter in the sequence:
    a z b y c x  d w e v f
     1) G
     2) H
     3) U
     4) T
** The correct answer is 3) which is the letter "U" **

    a h k c h k e h k g h k
     1) B
     2) H
     3) I
     4) L
** The correct answer is 3) which is the letter "I" because "HK" acts as a delimeter and every second letter is selected starting at "A" **

    Part Two
    Questions: 30
    Time: 15 minutes

    Example of step one questions:
Based on the following pattern select the next shape in the sequence:
     - 1. Square with black dot at top left
     - 2. Square with shaded dot at top right
     - 3. Square with outlined dot at bottom right

     1) Square with black dot at center
     2) Square with outlined dot at bottom left
     3) Square with empty interior; no dot
     4) Square with black dot at top left
** The correct answer is 3) which is the "square with no dot"**

    Parth Three
    Questions: 25
    Time: 30 minutes

    Example of step one questions:
Based on the following questions select the correct answer:

If a company prints 96,000 lines per printer and has two printers; one which can print 500 lines per minute and the other which can print 1,200 lines per minute.  When printer two is finished, how long will printer one still have to go?

     1) Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes
     2) Approx. 2 hour and 30 minutes
     3) Approx. 3 hour and 30 minutes
     4) Approx. 4 hour and 30 minutes
** The correct answer would be 3) which is "3 hours and 30 minutes", atleast that's what I'm coming up with **

This is exactly what the test was comprised of.  I walked out of there thinking I did great on it, then when I got home a few hours later I go an e-mail from the HR guy saying I made a 54.5, and the company standard to move forward to an interview is 60.0; but he's going to talk to management to see how they want to move forward (I so hope they still let me go for an interview).

I'm not sure if thats 54.5 percent or if its 54.5 our of the total questions; either way apparantly I'm below their standard.. hope they will look away from that though.

  • Written Logic Test

Anyone here ever taken one of those pre-database/programmer logic tests that contains three parts (part one: alpha sequence/patterns and you choose what comes next; part two: shapes patterns where you choose what comes next; part three: mathmatical / word problems)?

If you know what I'm talking about and you've ever taken one before... how did you think you did on it when you were complete?  And how did you actually do?

  • Holy crap

What the (I need to watch my language) is going on here?

  • Updated Channel 9 MSDN Subscription Competition

I should submit the Classroom Management System for this... the only proble is that it wasn't a team of two.  Are their any exceptions to this stipulation?
