One of my websites came runner up in Yahoo's 'Find of the Year' :D

Which is ironic because it was a last minute rush job, I'd about 5 days to create it on top of my other work!

Does anyone else think it's a bad idea to put 'MySpace' on the http://www.asp.net/getstarted/ page?

I mean, I've a mySpace account, and I think it's one of the worst sites in terms of UI design.

It may be powering it, but shouldn't they be showcasing good examples of ASP.Net?

Edit: Or did they just put it up there cause 'MySpace' has some degree of street cred?

I've trawled the net to no avail, does anyone know how to set MIME types in the ASP.Net development server? it doesn't serve .flv files.

Which IDE do you prefer?

For me it's 2003.

The new controls, project options, intellisence, formatting to name a few are better in 2005 but there are several things that really bug me:

1: Click on a control and sometimes the property window doesn't update, focus is stuck on the first selected control.

2: On more than one occation I've had the editor act really weird when editing sitemap files (copy/paste/delete does work right etc)

3: Form designer is so slooow to update.

4: Documentation takes an age to load even when local is checked first.

Which do you prefer?

This has been bugging me for a while now.

If I right click a file (local or network) in win explorer the context menu appears but the cursor slows way down and crawls along the menu, it can take around 10-15 seconds for me to do 'Open with'

I've tried a few things like stopping the pop-up description in explorer and turning off file indexing but it still crawls. Anyone any ideas?

Is this a good idea or bad idea?

With an adapter Fill() method you can specify the dataset and table name, but what about when you execute multiple select queries?

Would it be an idea to overload the Fill() method to accept a dataset object and a string array?

here's an example:

SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(connString);
SqlDataAdapter sqlAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM CompanyCustomers;SELECT * FROM CustomerOrders", sqlConn);

DataSet ds = new DataSet();
string [] tableNames = new string[] {"Customers", "Orders"};
sqlAdapter.Fill(ds,tableNames);

Check out the flash presentation, where did they get this woman! she lingers on every last word.. workspacases, wooork, productiviteey so annoying... ..it's equivalent to audible over-acting.

Hey peeps, well I was at the @Media conference in sunny old London on the 15th & 16th. It was an OK conference, bit dissapointed with the delegate pack.

Get's my award for having the biggest balls. To stand up in front of a load of web standards advocates and admit that they fooked up with IE takes some doing, fair play to him, he gave a good speech.

Nice attendees
Coming from a purely computing background, I'm used to a lack of nice looking women (or women at all), nice to see these pair doing their part :)

Cameron has not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 mobile (celluar) phones!!! can you imagine hauling all those chargers around???

Food was pretty good, wasn't cold and a nice combination.

I've just deployed a site (.net v1.1) to my host and on one page I get the error below. I never got this on my development or testing servers.

The page sets the caption property of a datagrid.
The host server is running 2.0, I've checked the aspnet_client files and everything seems ok.

Any ideas?

Umm this probably seems a bit silly but I'm at a blank here..

When I create a CreateCDataSection for a node and pass in some html with the markup for single left or right quotes (‘ ’) the quotes are saved in the xml as : â€˜ and â€™

XML file is in utf-8, is this just the utf encoding?

Anyone know how to (in c#) get at the 'Other version information' of a file.

If you right click a file in explorer, select 'properties' and then 'version' there is (usually) a lot of extra info i.e company, product name, comments.

The System.IO classes only give the basic stuff.
Any ideas?

ok, my pc froze and I rebooted, only to be greeted by a screen with white dotted vertical bars, characters onscreen are scrambled and windows doesn't display.

Is the card dead? :( ...if it is, then Nvidia cards are cr@p, this will have been the second one to blow in 4 years. :@

Well. the people in ivory towers at my place thought it would be a good idea to split our department and my team into two and relocate one half in another building, when the could have placed an entire department in the other building and kept us intact... ..does anyone else think this is a stoopid idea?
