Home and Student does come with OneNote, though.  It's not included in the Student edition of 2003.

That's great except OneNote is trash... Don't know a single student that uses it, there are mind map software totally free from the net that is better, but I do know tons of students that use Outlook.

For people here who are concerned with making virtual images of Vista for dev/test please know that this is not an issue if you have an MSDN subscription.

You can make as many virtual images for dev/test as you want. Plus you get all the tools, servers, EVERYTHING, all in one neat place.

Just wanted to let you know.

    How's that for shilling

What a great idea! ONLY £1500 too! Why don't I get two? Or one for every day of the week?! ...

Seriously I thought XP's 5 activation limit was insane ... A single hardware upgrade or computer move? Are you f*cking kidding me? I did that THIS month alone...

You guys can keep your bloatware, because its not coming NEAR my computer... And I'll be dammed if I'm paying for two copies of it a YEAR every year until it is replaced by something that is more restrictive still.

What do all you Brits think of this? Are you going to throw out your Beatles albums?

Think of what? ... Spousal abuse is barely something that's just sprung up over night. It happens in every country around the world... I'm not justify it, just saying that it doesn't exact raise my eyebrows.

Why would I throw away good music? I'll happily still listen to Michael Jackson's stuff and still would have even if he had been convicted... Unlike some I listen to music because I enjoy it, not because Radio 1 told me it was the "in thing" right now...

  • How to kill Zune before it is released.

Wow it does this, it does that, it does this other thing... All of which have absolutely nothing to do with music whatsoever...

Wireless or 40+ hour battery life... Hmm let me think...

I might be a technologist but even I think this is a little crazy... It is an MP3 player, it plays MP3s... All of the bells and whistles add little or nothing.

The iPod works because it is a simple MP3 player that works. It is not because the iPod has this feature or that feature... They get the core basics right, they don't fill it up with ten tons of bloat.

Zune = Bloat ... Microsoft = Bad Copy of Apple ...

  • Microsoft Zune - $284.00

There is nothing outstanding about Microsoft's MP3 player... It is a whole lot of "been there, seen that." You can get an iPod (30 GB) for $35 less but the prices are bound to match up pretty soon after release.

    Would I buy one? Maybe...

I should point out that all my DRM music is iTunes and some video for a matter of fact. So I won't be running off at Christmas and buying one.

Plus Microsoft's track record on hardware is spotty... Recent products have been much poorer build, and lot's of their previous ones have been discontinued (as has the support soon after).

Here are a few consumer questions I would have about this:
    - Battery Life?
    - Battery replacable?
    - Can it be used as a external drive?
    - What kind of respect does Microsoft have for my privacy?
    - Will I need to use Windows Bloat Media Player to upload music?
    - What movie/video formats are supported? Divx? Quicktime?
    - Can we expect more features in the future?
    - How secure is the wireless interface? What protocol? Enabled by default?
