Google reader hasn't updated for a few days, I get this when I try the XML button:

XML Parsing Error: syntax error

I also just stopped over 15 services - most of them were completely unneccessary just like with XP - why do they have the tablet pc service on by default when this isn't a tablet? And IPSec, I doubt many home users will use it by default so why is it on? I thought this stuff was going to be fixed?

And why is there a destop.ini file on my desktop that is impossible to remove even with the Administrator account?

So I downloaded this beta client tool to report some of the strange IE7 bugs and perf issues I've been having... only to get this error when submitting:

IE7 Tab overflow [IE7 Tab overflow]

Why don't the tabs in IE7 overflow like this:

The current behaviour is just nasty.

Also,

It's been stuck like this for about 3 hours, I've hit cancel and the cross... I can't access the other tabs that I have open. I think it might be doing this when the page contains references to non-existant files, maybe css/images or something.

edit: oh, and another one: I had an embedded .wmv video open in one of my IE windows. I tried to hibernate but nothing happened, no prompts or anything. Later on I went back to the tab with the video and saw the "Hibernating may stop playback..." confirmation message, which was hidden from me before.

edit2: and wtf is up with scrolling? it takes about a second for my scoll wheel to scroll on even simple pages, very annoying.

Haha, I've *never* managed this one before...

Must be the funky template stuff I'm doing. This is VC++ 2003 Toolkit btw. In fact, does anyone know if they are planning to release a similar command-line only version for vc 2005?

Screen recording software [Screen recording software]

Hey, does anyone know of a decent program (free if possible) for recording stuff in windows? I need to record some demos for my mum in case she gets stuck. Like how to renew the wireless connection and stuff like that :P

I downloaded fraps but the UI was so poor I couldn't even get it to start recording (it might have been a bug).

I'm sure there's one popular program, I've seen videos with the same red blink animation when the user clicks the mouse button.

Any ideas?

I've had the thing installed for ages now, but have only just started getting into it.

Tip: why not replace your "cmd.exe" shortcut with MSH for a while, see what happens ;)

I remember hearing that the reason the IE team didn't consider a tabbed interface for so long was because it broke the GUI guidelines and the user's expectations.

Whether that was speculation or not, it raises the question: will users get confused?

I always like to think of my poor Mum when it comes to UI issues. And I know for a fact that if she clicks a link and it opens in a new tab, she will not notice it.

If anything, she'll look to the taskbar - where she has learnt to look for missing windows.

What do you guys think? Is this gonna cause problems for your average joe user, or will my mum even be able to figure it out?

So far I've had IE7 flag up pages from xbox.com, thedailywtf.com and gamespy.com as being suspiscious phishing sites.

I've submitted all as being non-suspiscious, but has anyone else had many sites flagged up?
