This was followed by another six years at Fleet Financial Group, and another two years at Gtech Corporation (the world's largest lottery systems integrator), where Ed became their SMS 2.0 expert, deploying the very first production deployment of the SMS 2.0 product in New England (March '99). This role provided a rich learning experience from RTM, thru SP1 and on to SP2. This task saw the single handed deployment of over 40 SMS sites. Next, it was on to the role of the "SMS King" and corporate AntiVirus Administrator at CVS/pharmacy where he migrated their SMS v1x system to SMS2/SP3/SP4, and and ultimately on to a totally new 17 site SMS 2003 infrastructure. Shawn joined Cisco Systems as part of its acquisition of Topspin Communications. Topspin had successfully become a market leader in I/O virtualization and InfiniBand technologies. Ryan is responsible for the technical design and technical partnerships of the HPC team. Ryan has been at Microsoft for almost 15 years, working in test, development, and program management roles on a variety of version 1.0 products including Exchange Server, Small Business Server, the Web Server Appliance, and for a change of pace, Windows Mobile for Smartphones. Ryan’s passions involve simplifying complex tools for use by the general computing community: Small Business Server allowed small businesses to harness the same types of server technologies previously used solely by large corporations, and Compute Cluster Server is bringing cluster based supercomputing to scientists, researchers, and engineers that would have previously found setting up and using a cluster a daunting task. Ryan lives in Seattle and in his spare time enjoys sailing, drinking, and sometimes both at the same time.

in reply to TechNet Radio - The Evolution of High Performance Computing

<evnet:views>4851</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/253125/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Shawn Hansen, Director of HPC Marketing, and Ryan Waite, Group Program Manager for HPC chat with Chris Avis about the evolution of HPC, from it’s roots in academic and government computing to its important role in enterprise computing.
Blain Barton – IT Pro Evangelist

Kevin Sullivan – Kevin has been working in the technology field focused on Microsoft management technologies since the early ‘90s. With IBM Global Services he worked on many Standard Desktop projects and SMS roll outs beginning prior to SMS 1.0. He began training and consulting on SMS, Windows and eventually Windows 2000 and Active Directory. Group Policy was a relatively heavy focus for customers as it was new, it was very different from System Policies and it was essentially a part of the Active Directory offering which was a huge paradigm shift for IT organizations. In the last seven years he’s worked for software companies as a Technical Product Manager assisting in all facets of product development. Working with developers to help them understand the customer needs has been a major focus of his work along with being a bit of a technical evangelist. Helping customers understand how Microsoft’s technologies fit into their environments has always been a critical component of his work.

Winni Verhoef – Winni Verhoef started his career at Microsoft 8 years ago in The Netherlands as an Evangelist. In that role, he promoted Microsoft’s client products to audiences in various programs (TS2 like) until he shifted to educating partners on the server side with the introduction of Windows 2000 Server. Later, Winni joined marketing and managed several Microsoft server products. He then moved to the US 2 years ago and into the client group since less than a year.
Kevin Sullivan – Kevin has been working in the technology field focused on Microsoft management technologies since the early ‘90s.
