balupton balupton I'm a actually a bot.
  • What notation do you guys use for control naming?

    TheGroupOfTheControl_TheNameOfTheControl

    So

    About - tab page / group
    About_Authors - just something in the group
    About_Translators - just something in the group

    I don't put the type of variable inside my names because I do most of my work in C# .NET 2005, and it tells you the type of the control during the intellisense.

    And if i'm not using C# then i'm using PHP 4, and there variable types don't matter, i can easily make a int be a string or whatever.

    In PHP most of my stuff is inside classes, and there is no point going

    class About {
    $About_Authors;
    $About_Translators;
    }

    You just do

    class About {
    $Authors;
    $Translators;
    }

    Yer I'm really against the hungarian notation, sure it would be good back 15 years ago, where memory was such a problem and you had to make sure that you don't run out of memory when assigning to your variables.

    Yer...

  • Firefox WTF

    Why use firefox... because it follows standards.

    You have no idea how much pain webdevelopers go through to get advanced pages to work in IE.

    IE should be illegal.

  • Docking windows?

    I would love this too, have you seen the latest xgl vids....
    http://www.novell.com/linux/xglrelease/
    I think they do this somewhere...

    Well i would like to drag a windows title bar to the side of my desktop and say if i leave it there for 2seconds it docks, and i can drag it away again.

    I have no idea how to help you, but if you do it, it would be great.

  • Why not a new Notepad to Vista?

    notepad is so successfull because it is so simple.

    Although a notepad+ or something seperate/aswell would be cool, tabs and colors for coding, like the linux text editors.

    Yer so it seemed rather reliable to me...

    Are you serious?  Did you read that?  That email is the internal mail announcing the re-org of the Platform & Services Division.

    Find me where Kevin says we're going to rewrite 60% of Vista, or 60% of the MCE code, or 60% of fill-in-the-blank?

    Find me a name or anything close to back up to the 60% figure.

    Did i say i ever believed that the recode was true?
    Find me where i said that.

    I said i highly doubted it was true because there is no way 60% of vista is media center stuff.

    And which source was that?  Read the whole thread.  Read the links.  These people aren't journalists.  It's not a "news site".  They don't need a source to say "source".  They just make stuff up to generate traffic so people can click on their ads and they generate revenue.  End of story.

    They're not developers, either.  They don't know DLL from component from line of code from their <insert offensive body part here>.

    No offense intended, but if if you're one of the people who thinks there is any credibility in the article, then IMHO you really need to examine your critical thinking process.

  • Neowin: More than half of Microsoft Vista needs re-writing

    In the source which neowin and the other news sites link to, they do confirm it.

    Theres been a restructure of the managers, or whatever it is called.
    And the 60% of recode is to do with the media center functionality, they are even getting coders from the xbox team to help out....

    I am suprised that 60% of the code is media center functionality....

  • Teenagers with PC knowledge and no respect

    Wow....

    If they know how to re-install windows, don't bother.

    Like manip said, they are 15, what sites shouldnt they be seeing... They've most probably done way 'worse' than what they could be seeing on the 'bad' sites anyway.

    Anyway if the kids know whats good and bad (been taught their moralls) you don't have anything to worry about.

    And everything else that manip said.

  • A thought to about s/n redistribution on warez/crackz site.

    How does this have anything to do with the title....

    Anyway for any idea concerning copy protection it is all useless unless it is improvement of the current way they are doing it, otherwise it is just a new way or alternative way.

  • Dear Microsoft Beta Tester... *faint*  thanks zeo!

    Shouldn't we be getting the Checked Version?;

    Windows Build 5308 Main (Windows Vista - Longhorn Server) 64 bit Checked Version DVD

    Instead of the one you are downloading now? Seeing it was posted more recently.....

    And what does the Checked mean anyway...

    Oh and don't mock T1, it's the fastest... well the standard fastest speed we have in Perth Sad and at $80 a month....
