MS just released a beta of a new version of RDP. It's universal (finally!) so it may perform better on Intel-based Macs.

They've already missed Christmas, and it's a long time until Back-to-School. The market for low-end PC's is very cyclical, so they have some time. Besides, the Mac mini can run all the apps it needs to right now with the power it has (including WoW, from personal experience). In contrast, have fun running Aperture on a PowerBook.
The PowerBook was way out of date and needed a refresh asap. I'm not sure what the deal is with updating the iMac only 3 months after its last revision. -
Price up the fastest base of both the PowerBook and MacBook with 1 GB of RAM in 1 DIMM, 100GB HD @ 7200rpm, DVD Burner, and 3 years warranty. The newer, faster MacBook is about $100 less than the PowerBook.
Faster and cheaper. Not sure how the consumers are getting screwed... So there's no low end option yet, but given Steve's track record over the last few months, we could get more Intel products any day now. -
That did it. Thanks, Blowdart!

Nope. Sorry, that didn't help.
Also, I checked in Configuration Manager, and all of my connection protocols are enabled. I don't see the connection attempt, failed or otherwise, when I attach to the server with the Profiler.
Appropriate that this happened on Halloween, I suppose...

I installed all the new bits, and things were working fine. I come back from lunch, and it's like my compy has lost its mind (or maybe I have).
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection sc = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(); sc.ConnectionString = "data source=(local);integrated security=SSPI;persist security info=False;Pooling=false;"; sc.Open();If I put this code in a plain old 1.1 app, I get "SQL Server does not exist or access denied." If I put it in an empty 2.0 app, it works. Thoughts? -

There have been two insert flyers with the monthly MSDN Universal shipments "Important and Exciting changes to your MSDN subscription" giving the URL link indicating where to go to indicate your choice.
Plus an email sent out to registered MSDN subscribers as well.
Ok. For some asinine reason, we don't get shipments with our subscription (don't ask, it's our IT department's fault), so I'm not surprised that I haven't seen the flyers. I am a little surprised about the emails, though.
Looks like I've got some calls to make tomorrow. :O -

Team Suite:
Since the Universal subscription alternative is comming to an end and you have to upgrade to get the Team Suite, or at least specify which one of the Architect, Developer or Tester you would like to continue with.
DVD ISO's:
No idea...
Ok, so if you're a Universal subscriber, how do you make your choice? I've known for a long time that we have to choose, but I've gotten no indication how to do so. -
Sure, SQL 2005 will drop on 7 November, but how long will the two products coincide for retail/VAR/ISV use?
On a related note, MS is promising standard support for SQL 2000 for two years after the launch of SQL 2005. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=2852
