The changes will be unveiled today, as Microsoft announces the second Visual Studio 2010 beta and .NET Framework 4 beta two have been released to MSDN subscribers with everyone else getting code on October 21.

Also, Microsoft will announce Visual Studio 2010 will officially launch on March 22, 2010.

I downloaded the FAQ one. It's MVC based. A few niggles, including a big one around security, and the social toolkit seems limited to, errr, Live Messenger - which is hardly social ...

Win7, IE8 and WMV [Win7, IE8 and WMV]

Interesting one. It seems IE8 doesn't like Partial content, at least for WMV/WMA files. Just tried clicking the WMV link on the C9 home page and IE gives the usual cannot display the web page. On any WMV content, served from a few random video domains I tried.

Interestingly MP4 on the other hand works. Maybe that's because it gets a 200 first, then 206s, whereas a WMV download gets a 206 first. Who knows ...

So C9 folks if Win7 people are complaining they can't download WMVs in IE, well, MP4 is built in, tell them to pretend to be an iPod!

The software maker said late Friday that it decided to ship the same version of Windows 7 for Europe after PC makers complained that having to use the browserless version of Windows 7 for a short period of time would be a pain.

Now this is interesting. What about all those pre-orders for Windows E? You can't just switch them without permission to be the normal "Upgrade" version - as you've sold them as full installs, not requiring an existing Windows version.

Microsoft is launching a free video service in the UK that will be focused on streaming full-length television shows. Dubbed the MSN Video Player, and powered by Flash and Windows Media Video, the service will go into a six-month trial version next week.

But watch out, the download servers, even after 2 days, still aren't all in sync.

Check the download page has a version number 1.0.000.0 with a publish date of 7/22/2009. Even then I found my first attempt at downloading brought an old version down. Once you have it installed you should have an about box that looks like

If it just says July 2009 release then you have an old one, so try again.

This is an advance notification of two out-of-band security bulletins that Microsoft is intending to release on July 28, 2009. One bulletin will be for the Microsoft Visual Studio product line; application developers should be aware of updates available affecting certain types of applications. The second bulletin contains defense-in-depth changes to Internet Explorer to address attack vectors related to the Visual Studio bulletin, as well as fixes for unrelated vulnerabilities that are rated Critical. Customers who are up to date on their security updates are protected from known attacks related to this out-of-band release.

Interesting that it's going to affect Visual Studio.
