  • SSD , are you ready ?

I upgraded my MacBook to a Seagate Momentus XT....a hybrid with partial SSD...a reasonable middle step for storage vs cost.

By the way, there are some decent Mac solutions for SSD found at places like this:

LOLz, while it is kind immature to put them in coffins, but, hey, I am fed off with Apple official fanboism. Good sweet revange. Since trash talk is part of the competition, I do agree MS should be more serious on trash talking skills. I actually hope MS gets even more aggrassive, maybe a PC vs Mac spin off, like WinPhone7 vs iDrop, hehehe.

Well, that would be really lame, since the iPhone 4 is, in many respects, a most excellent device; and, anecdotally speaking, I haven't been dropping any calls with mine....ymmv. It doesn't take a fanboi to understand this.

It wasn't about putting your finger in the magic spot, it was about when you hold your iPhone normally parts of your palm would cover the spot much larger than a finger would, causing call dropping.

Either way....the palm or a finger...I get similar results. Depending on location, I'll see the bars drop in a few seconds; but no dropped calls. I'm not saying that other users are not dropping calls. I've never owned a cell phone where calls didn't occasionally drop.

Pick your cell phone model....almost any of them can be made to show signal attenuation, depending on variables including location and how the device is gripped...RIM devices are no exception, as the video demonstrated. Apple does not have an antenna debacle. When I place my hand or finger over the iPhone 4's weak spot, I can make the bars drop sometimes, but I've never dropped a call as a result. Apparently. other users have the same experience. For those who use their device in a location that is weak for reception, they have to figure out if the device (iPhone, Droid...take your pick), works well enough to meet their needs. If not, simply use a case or return the device...end of story.

Anecdotal experience here...received my iPhone 4 on Saturday....so far, no issues or reception problems to report...it's a nice upgrade to the 3GS and compared with the various Droids owned by some of my work buddies, it's a slick piece of kit. I am, however. looking for the perfect case because I'm nervous about naked glass.

Oh, there's plenty of those about (look how long MS took to come clean concerning the problems with the XBox), but I think it's rare to come across a company that treats its customers as if they're morons.

'You're holding it wrong.' as a fix borders on insulting, when clearly the problem is a design flaw.

So, it seems that if you stick a case on the iPhone 4, this whole thing is a non-issue....that's what I always do with mine.

  • Steve Jobs on Flash

Regarding the quality of Flash video presence on the web, just about the only place where I find the format to be implemented with excellent quality is at the Berlin Philharmonic's Digital Concert Hall (that's an awesome implementation, btw). Other than that, I'll invoke ClicktoFlash in any place where I can opt for a higher quality H.264 option....and, that includes YouTube.

Mac is the "Jeans Designer" now OLD, super OLD and out of tendence.

Now any notebook is much more beautiful than any Mac , Sony , DELL , Lenovo etc.

PS-. Have you looked at the data of adoption of Windows 7?  Big Smile

Well...I run Win7 on my Black (non-shiny) MacBook toggling with my Snow Leopard install, so I think I'm qualified to comment. Both OS' are fine and get the job done. Currently, the Mac is a superior choice for me and others because I want and need to run Win 7 and SL on one machine (and, I won't go the Hackintosh route). Apple is doing well in terms of mindshare and profitability. They are not as concerned about pure marketshare as other computer companies need to be.

Windows 7 is a good application of better designed lipstick to that previous pig (Vista), and gives Windows users a good OS platform; but IMHO, it is not on par with Snow Leopard yet.
