On the 3g you can open the cover with a small screwdriver and change the battery since it's not soldered

THE S.O. is a multitask? (eye exceptions)
The OS is multitasking, but the third-party applications distributed through app store cannot be multitasking (app store policy) but the ones installed outside the app stores (through the famous installer) can

No, it needs its own application to sync like all other phones. windows mobile needs activesync or vista sync center and syncing is extremely slow

Can I edit Word, Exel ?
    Yes with third party applications

The iPhone has other limitations too like its app store preventing some software like GPS software with turn-by-turn voice directions being released but that doesn't change the fact that the few things the iPhone does are faster, quicker, easier than all the other phones; just look at photo browsing or applications installing. Despite HTC, Samsung and Sony desperately trying to implement sluggish and half-baked me-too alternatives to the iPhone interface none of them can reach the same quality standard the iPhone software has set both because despite 3d-accelerated PDA chips have been available for years no manifacturer provided the drivers with them making reliable hardware-accelerated interfaces hard to develop and because those companies have to rely on an OS far from ready to be used on phones like windows mobile that is designed for businesses and not for consumers: Windows Mobile natively doesn't support cameras, MMS, videocall, t9 applications and a lot of other stuff people expect to find on new phones and has nasty by-design behaviours people don't expect like the X button hiding the applications in the background and not closing them.

  • Italians, pre-order Samsung Omnia i900 and get a free Xbox 360 arcade!

If you're Italian and love 15mm thick QVGA resolution phones with WM 6.1, 5 MPx camera, 3g + 7mbit HDSPA, high-capacity 1.5A batteries (but with only 300 hours standby time), Bluetooth 2.2, GPS, FM Radios, Optical mouse cursors, TV Out and pointless animated today screens you really can't miss this offer (Today is the last day to apply, 21th of July and you'll get the phone tomorrow 22th). I too was tempted by the offer but my disgust for the sluggish non-hardware accelerated Windows Mobile interfaces and the fear of bugged ROMs that Samsung could never update (Samsung phones don't even have an official ROM update tool so don't even hope for a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade next year unlike for HTC phones like the Diamond) are keeping me away from it.

  • The mysteries of the Vista's Explorer Status Bar

I'm happy to announce this beautiful and extremely lame bug is still present in all of its glory on Vista SP1 RC-preview...

I hope they'll fix it before 2012. I would hate to see wrong file sizes even after doomsday.

  • Worldwide WGA outage... Vistas invalidate themselves...

I'm more curious about the implications then the reasoning for it. Weither it's "anti-piracy", or some kind of under undisclosed purpose, the sheer implications of WGA are frightening. I didn't realize this fully until today.

We have seen is this has big implications. Just a few hours of downtime cause widespread havok. WGA could be a threat to the national security and sovereignty of hundreds of nations. It seems really outlandish but it really isn't. What WGA is doing basically is entrusting remote control of the functionality of all the world's Windows computers to a 3rd party.

I might be crazy, but that is something that worries me a lot. It really really troubles me. I don't want Microsoft, the US government, or whoever, having such control over my computer systems and my nation's computer systems. It's dangerous on a number of levels. Something really needs to be done about this on a political level, because it has political implications.

As far are the reasoning for it, I think it would be naive to think it's just an anti-piracy measure. I've learned long ago that the thing you have to fear most from is the truth. One reason people lie is because the truth is often unbearable for most people to hear. I don't think we are hearing the truth or at least the full truth from Microsoft.

even if WGA did not exists then Microsoft could still release a "specially crafted" windows hotfix and screw up all of those computers anyways therefore your spy story theory has no sense.

  • Leaving for a few months. FUD storm alert!

A place without internet... What's that?

A place where there are still entire cities not covered by ADSL.

I've subscribed to a GSM/GPRS/UMTS flat but it doesn't work where I'm moving to, the only connection mode that works is GSM (it's 9600bps or something like that) and even then the pages would take a lot of refreshes and entire minutes to load (and no images!) so I just resigned not to use internet.

Oh well gotta leave now, bye!
