We are working on a poster for a presentation and having an odd issue that I cannot find a work around.

We have created a graph (bar, pie, etc) in Excel 2007 with our data and everytime we place it in a powerpoint 2007 slide, the default coloring changes.

Does anyone have an idea as to why and a possible way to remedy this so that our original colors will stay?
Thanks

Coffeehouse - Dell Axim

Seeing as this is a tech site and discussion board, I am sure some of you have a Dell Axim. I purchased a Dell Axim v51x and have been less than satisfied with it and it seems to boil down to software:

1. Why are there no less than 3 programs on here for wireless networking? There is the Dell program, Wifi companion, the built in Windows networking and some Odyssey client. For the life of me I can not figure out how to remove the Odyssey client because
I think it is the root cause of my problems.

2. The Switcher Bar is useless. Half the time it seems to show running programs, and half the time it does not seem to. Again, it seems to depend on two factors, the Odyssey client and/or possibly the programs running.

3. When opening Word and Excel files, why does it automatically always default to 100% view? I switch the zoom to say 50%, close the document and reopen it and it is back to 100%.

4. How exactly does Exchange work on these devices? I have multiple folders set up for various subjects. Yet, I have to go to each folder and hit send/receive for the email to arrive to those folders. Am I doing something wrong?

5. I use gmail also. I know there are ways to get the gmail app version to work on pocketpc by downloading a java client and downloading a file from google. I tried it and was unsuccesful, does anyone have any suggestions?

6. Why on the Today page does it only show a few HOURS in advance, if that? Luckily I found an add on program that allows me to show days in advance, but still seems odd.
(Second note, is there a way to have the calendar default to a view other than day?)

If anyone else has a Dell Axim and can point me in the direction of some of these queries I would be very appreciative. I have tried google, dell websites, microsoft websites, but nothing seemed to answer my questions thus far.

Thanks
I also went under HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB and found the keys associated with the USB to IDE value.
Yeah, though they said external power may be needed, it's safe to say it is required.
I have an Adaptec External case that came with an external power supply. Specifically this one:

Adaptec Drive
I wonder if something could be the matter with it?

Every time the drive has come up it has come up with the same letter designation as before. So I know Windows can see and use it. I have used it before, but it seems to be a miracle to work again at times.

Which device would you choose, if given the option and why? I am looking for any personal experiences you guys have also.

Personally, from what I have seen, I would choose the PocketPC, but I am slightly biased.

Thanks for the help.

Coffeehouse - An observation

What is the draw to Linux?

I have tried the newest version of Ubuntu and I guess I just don't get it. I am by no means someone who is new to computers but I do not understand.

Some of have suggested that some flavors of Linux are better than Windows or Mac because it is free and easier to use and the user is given a choice in a variety of ways (source code, customization, etc). If my parent's can not figure out something as simple
as Mac OS X how can I expect them to understand Linux?

Many sites have promoted the use of Linux to compete with Windows in the desktop area once Vista arrives, but after reading through the Ubuntuguide and trying to get stuff working, personally, I am tired of having to access the terminal to get anything working
and installed. Yes, they have an "Add application" program, which has simplified installations, but there are dependence errors, some of which I can not decipher.

I guess I just want my computer to work for me, not the opposite. I am not promoting Windows, Mac, anything, but I believe they have to be a lot easier to use than any current Linux offering. As a student and someone who does not devote his life to computers,
sometimes I just want the easiest and quickest way to accomplish a task.

I am just curious to see the reply with this group. I know many of you are Windows users, but I also have read many of you have tried some flavor of Linux.

Coffeehouse - Tablet PC question

I know this topic has been discussed many times, but I would like a survey from a technical group of people about the purchase of a TabletPC.

Currently I am a pharmacy student. I am considering the purchase a tablet. I would not be doing much development work, but instead would use the device for viewing lecture notes, articles, internet usage (Blackboard for anyone familiar with the system) and
other various tasks. Obviously since I give almost all my money to college, I do not have an unlimited fund for this purchase.

What can people recommend as a good tablet for this kind of application?

Thank you

Coffeehouse - IE 7 Request

I am sure this topic has been discussed before, but I would like to re-emphasize how much I would like to see this option for IE7.

I would really really like it if Microsoft and Macromedia work together to allow a user to control flash based ads on websites. I am so tired of coming across a site where the first thing I see and hear is some annoying flash ad telling me to swat a fly or
shot a photo of some celebrity.

I have resorted to using Firefox on these sites so that I can actually view the site without being annoyed. Of course, a user has to add an extension to do this in Firefox and I am sure some option is available for IE.

Thanks for letting me rant

Coffeehouse - Curiosity

Since I saw someone wanted something to discuss on a lazy Sunday, I thought of a possible topic. Since most of the people on the site seem to be developers, it deals with your background(s).

1. Why did you choose a career in software development?

2. What did you start programming with/on?

3. What is it that drives you to do what you do everyday?

And finally:

4. If you can say, what was the most fascinating project you did or worked on?

I ask these not as a developer myself, but someone who is curious to see the thinking process of the majority of the community.

Thanks for the replies,
Good Day

Coffeehouse - Powerpoint Question

Ok, that is not exactly what I am talking about. I know you can do it that way, but that only prints 1 page at a time.

What I am looking for is a way just to print the actual notes part of the slides say from a Word file.

Thanks

Coffeehouse - Powerpoint Question

To anyone that can offer assistance,
I do not know exactly where to post this, but I figure one of you maybe able to give me a definite answer on this. My teacher post lectures in Powerpoint format. Within some of the slides are notes in the notes section of the slide. No problem thus far.

Here is what I would like to know. Is there a way for Powerpoint to print JUST
the notes part? I know I can set it to print the slide and notes below but at 60 slides a lecture, that is a lot of wasted paper becuase it only prints 1 slide to a page.

If it is possible, I would like the option to export the notes to Word with the corresponding slide number given. I can do this manually, but it is time consuming.

Thanks community,
