IMO, Microsoft would be foolish to exclude Android from Office. If they can't get people to migrate to their devices at least get them to migrate to their software and ecosystem.

Nop. I just want to point out there's team making Office software targeting Mac environment already.

If they want to make Office for Andriod, they'd have to hire another team of people. (I know there's already lots of Linux people working in Microsoft already, but they're in Windows division. And people in Windows division don't transfer to Office divison) By the time you hear they hiring such people, I think you'll have to wait 1 or 2 years before the MS Office for Andriod come out.

FYI, it's been 10+ years since Office division offer MS Office for Mac.

And I doubt they'll offer Office for Android because there aren't any "MS Office for Linux" yet.

It's good to see non-Java tool for that, though. (My company just renew my machine, but haven't installed JRE yet because I don't have a reason to yet.)

You've got to use seperate Windows server that provides DNS and use firewall to mask out which machine has access to which DNS.

Alternatively, you may host a small linux machine that act as secondary DNS host, and set the zone security there. (You'll also need to set the firewall to allow access to DC DNS from that linux server only, and change DHCP option to set DNS to the linux server)

One of the reasons I have stopped blogging (something I really enjoy), is the expectation coders have that I have to post all the source for them, just so they can grab the code, and tell their boss they fixed the problems.

Sometimes it takes days for me to write an article, and present the tutorial an an easy to understand manner. Very rarely does anyone ever say "thanks", you only need to look at codeplex where there is a grab and run mentality, which is how most of the youth are now with the internet, they think everything is free.

If people were more courteous in forum posts, and said "thank you" people would help more, that is the issue, that is why people are snarky and unhelpful because people think that others should spend days or weeks solving a problem, and supply the solution to people that are ungrateful..

For me the "copy and run" is not much of a problem, or I'd quit answering questions in MSDN forums.

The problem is "what do I get in return when offering help".

- If the question is an interesting one, I'd enjoy good entertainment.
- If the question provoke interesting thought to me, I may write some code and post the result there.
- If it's something I don't know but also want to know, I don't mind doing lengthly research to figure it out and post the result there.
- If it invoke some of my old memories that I would have lost if my memory is not refreshed, I'd be happy to share and leave a footprint, so if I indeed forget about it later, I can come back and read it.

Unfortunately there's fewer such questions asked these days, and for some of the questions that qualifies, I'm unable to answer.

Btw, calculator is a topic so common that with keywords "C# calculator" I can see 10+ pages of result. If the asker don't have the time to do research and digest it, we have better things to do than helping him.

Sure, you can use Kinect to change channel or what, but that's not very important to daily TV watching experience.

That said, someone tell Microsoft that we need games that play 3D graphincs with something like passive 3D LCD. (The image I points to is someone who just upgraded his display to NVIDIA GTX660 and playing Guild Wars 2 with special 3D support.

Your VNC client tells the display driver that it needs to refresh the screen of certain rectanglar region, the display driver capture the display buffer which is the resulting bitmap that's effectively catered all the windows and their z-index on the screen, and send back the client.

Now replace that with 3D viewport coordinates and game backbground textures.

Since for specific map it'd be deterministic function, the cloud server may cache the result to further increase performance. (Imagine a war map in a game that 100 players appears in the same screen, differs slightly by coordinates and view angles)

The performance gain could be negative if the texture to be displayed isn't that complex, or network speed is slow, though

You can't sell used copies of movie tickets, sporting event tickets, bowling, or amusement park admissions.  It's entertainment that you are paying for and if the games do not include subscription supported DLC, it's consumable.

I don't know... I can resell books... even if it contains multi-route fictions ("Turn to page 11 if you select the first choice, page 15 if you select the second one")

Take Ubuntu for example. Some Ubuntu users doesn't like their choice of using GNOME as XWin environment, the released a distro that use KDE as default instead of that's why Kubuntu existed.

With someone knowing KDE enough, this kind of distro can be maintained be as few as two people.

I've read about plans to consolidate MSDN forum and ASP.NET forum (account and points linkage) like MSDN forum and TechNet forum now about a year ago, but never heard any updates since that.

Btw, take SimCity incident recently as example, the developers of the game itself don't agree with the managements, however they have to follow management's decision or lose their job.

It's like that when software companies is running by business people instead of developers. Real game developers may want to protect their work, but won't try ways that hurts gameplay experience of paid gamers.

Although if I don't need to do development with my laptop, I may have considered to replace one with tablets.
