Coffeehouse - WCF design surface?

Hi,

I was just downloading the Microsoft Visual Studio Code Name “Orcas” Community Technology Preview - Development Tools for WinFX and I noticed in the fine print the following

"This CTP does not include a graphical design surface for the Windows Communication Foundation. "

I would assume that there is something in the works that will allow people to develop WCF interfaces using a designer rather than having to code everything. Does anyone have any more information on this feature and the direction it is heading?

Cheers,
While EID doesn't have any file importers at this time you can use Expression Graphics Designer to export XAML (native format of EID) or Mike Swansons

Coffeehouse - Scoble: Interview with the Vista MCE team?

Hi Robert,

I was wondering if there are any plans to get an interview with the Windows Vista Media Center team? A while back they announced that they would be opening up the product so regular developers can use the same APIs and mark up that the MCE team uses to create
the applications that look like they belong with MCE rather than an add on.

It would be great to see how much it has progressed and what the developer experience is going to be like.

Coffeehouse - DualCor

I read somewhere that they will be showing it at the January 2006 CES and will retail around $1500. This has been my dream for as long as I can remember... To have a PC that I can take anywhere and dock at home, work, etc.

Along the same vein I have also dreamt having it dock in a laptop shell, in my car as the CarPC, etc. If they can develop a killer docking solution then this thing could kick butt. Additionally I have always dreamt that this PC would run light applications
when used as a handheld. They are accomplishing this by using Windows CE 5 which isn't a bad way to start.

If this takes off I can see it getting quite popular. Now to get a kill graphics card in it

Coffeehouse - PocketPC Friendly Channel 9?

As I had mentioned before is regarding the streaming video. While I do have an issue with the pages within the site, my biggest problem is with the video themselves. A windows mobile 5 device has a Media Player 10 compatible media player so it qualfies
for the "Plays for Sure" moniker but when plays for sure only plays at a crippled bitrate, I am not too impressed.

From what I can gather the streaming server detects that I am running a protable device and scales the quality down. The interesting thing is that I set an option in the Windows Media player to say that I am a 1 Mbps connection and I turned off the "Detect
connection speed" but still the video comes to me at a reduced bit rate.

Coffeehouse - PocketPC Friendly Channel 9?

Hi All,

There have been times when I had my PocketPC (Dell Axim x51v) with me and a fast internet connection and I think to myself that it would be great to be able to watch a video on Channel 9, unfortunately the website doesn't play well with PocketIE and the videos
are shown at a reduced bitrate (I think something like 24k). All this makes for a very poor experience. While I could live with the difficult front page I give up when trying to watch a video. My PocketPC can easily handle the regular bitrate of the FullScreen
videos but the video server cripples my video.

Has anyone else been successful in watching a video from a Pocket PC and have the bitrate stay around 300k?

While I am at it I would like to put in a request for a PocketIE friendly site.
