  • Fake Netflix Android app steals account data

It doesn't say it was from the market place, it says it was found on an on-line forum.  I think it was a scam hoping people would want NetFlix on their Android phone when it wasn't supported yet.  There have been a number of modified netflix apps doing the rounds but all have to be downloaded and installed without the market place.  If you download and install stuff that you don't know the author and it's not from the market place then you take your chances and you have to accept the outcome, whatever that might be.

That's not to say that this hasn't happened through the market place in the past because it has, there was a bunch of dodgy apps on there not so long ago

  • Recruitment - where to advertise in the UK

@W3bbo:Got you e-mail thanks, and sent you a reply when I got home.  Tend to finish about 17:00

  • Recruitment - where to advertise in the UK

@Ian2: Used to, I take it you've moved somewhere else.  I've walked around the area by work and there are some really nice houses.  One by work was up for £35 million not so long ago, but I think this is an exception rather than a rule, I think they are generally only a couple of million Smiley

  • Recruitment - where to advertise in the UK

I don't know Knutsford that well, only work here.  I live an hour away by car.  I can find the Legh Arms and Booths, that's about it...

@W3bbo a pint at the moment is difficult as I am car sharing with someone, they've had an opperation on their arm and can't drive so I'm their shofer at the moment. Drop me an e-mail and we can arrange a phone call if you are interested

  • Recruitment - where to advertise in the UK

@W3bbo: If you are interested then drop me an e-mail with your CV (chris_podmore at hotmail dot com).  I'm going to be sorry putting my e-mail address out there aren't I!

We are based in Knutsford just so you know.

The project is a year old with another 15 months to run for v1.  C#, Silverlight, DDD

  • Recruitment - where to advertise in the UK

I'm looking to recruit a Senior Developer in the UK.  The company I work for has a limited number of approved recruitment agencies and we are struggling to find someone that matches our requirements.  I was wondering where most people on Channel 9 in the UK look for new career opportunities

It's not just a senior developer with C# but someone with an architectural flare

  • Caliburn Micro & Silverlight 4

Has anyone looked at Caliburn Micro?

I am trying to use it with Silverlight 4 and the POC I am working on has two views A & B.  A has a button that needs to close view A and show view B.

I have been trying to get this working all day and I am now banging my head against the wall so any help will be much appreciated.

    Chris.

  • If you could start again?

Thanks for the replies so far.

Yes it is a product to be sold.  Apparently here in the UK and Europe

It is a rewrite of an existing desktop system originally written in VB6
The company wants a "browser based system"
It needs to support both SQL Server and Oracle because the current system does and they don't want to have to force customers to have to upgrade this bit.  The current database design is, to say the least not very good and therefore is in need of an overhaul so this will happen at the same time as the rewrite

  • If you could start again?

If you had the opportunity to rewrite an application from scratch how would you go about it?

    There are a few restrictions:

    • Must be web based
    • Must be .NET (C# or VB.NET)
    • Must support both SQL Server and Oracle for database
    • Must be multilingual
    • Must be multicurrency

The application in question is an accounts system

    Where would you start?

    Web forms?

    MVC?

  • Agile - Scrum

The company I work for is looking to introduce new methodology, namely Agile - Scrum

For the minute I don’t want to go buy any books in case it doesn’t happen.  What I am after are any good sites; whilst I know I can go and Google for them I would rather someone recommend some.

Does anyone have any real world experience of using Scrum?
Successes or war stories also welcome

    Thanks
    Chris
