Honestly I don't see what all the fuss is about, I'm happy with my Windows Phone, and I'll be happy when I get the update, am I going to keep checking for updates in Zune, no, nor are the vast majority of users who are just using it as a smartphone, who will one day get a surprise update pop up.  Late Feb or early March I had the pre-NoDo announce itself, cool, was it straight away, no, but what's the rush?

Updates roll out over a couple of months.  That's fine.  How much of an improvement is that over Android or Windows Mobile?  Vastly improved.

Sure its not up to the iPhone pace, but then Microsoft aren't in a position to strongarm phone companies around like Apple.

Some of the people here saying they'll ditch the platform if they don't get the update within X number of weeks just sound childish (with too much money to waste by the sound of it) and don't seem to understand the difficulty of balancing the interests of manufacterers, networks and customers.

Pen flicks not working to scroll the page, as a Tablet PC user this has driven me insane for too long.   During the IE8/Windows 7 beta it was closed as postponed, if you could squeeze it in it would be welcome!

I'd like to know where inking has gone in Messenger.  I sure as hell can't find it.  Found it very useful, especially when on my tablet.  Wouldn't mind more information from Sync about what its doing but I can live with that.

Yes, but the Home Server Connector software does all the configuration.  You can still tell the Library to stop adding a server location if you don't want it on a specific machine.

What about Office Live Workspaces?

And how is the web notebooks folder of OneNote going to be setup?

I've seen screens of the UK site having the image background, which we don't currently have (and I use the US version to get it), so hopefully they'll more aggressively roll this stuff out.

Just switched audio between my onboard AC97 chipset and my Audigy, with this video running.  Normally you'd have to start up the video again, but on 6801 it keeps on going. Nice.

@Bas depends on the hardware, if you've got a headphone out jack on a soundcard or an amp, it'll switch over in hardware.  If I understand right - if this is handled in software you could even with headphones plugged in - switch over to speakers, which you can't do if its handled in hardware on the soundcard or amp.  Then of course you've got USB and Bluetooth devices, which the bulk of this I suspect is aimed at.

I loved the idea of virtual folders like we had in the early Windows Vista builds, where the Documents folder was a saved search result, dissapointly that feature was removed as it was too confusing - although it does still exist, it was just unhooked from the Documents, Music folders etc.

This is an excellent replacement for it.  I've always wanted to get public documents and pictures show up in the same view.  I had to train the rest of the family to use the Public Documents links, and links to the Home Server on the Favourite Links section instead.  This makes it much simpler to use, and they won't need to remember where specific things are stored anymore.  They can just hit Documents on their Start menus and see the lot.

Also like not showing image names in the Pictures view too - I used to be religious about naming images, but now I just leave them with the default name from the camera and tag them instead.  I suspect a lot of people do the same thing too.
