An article about the new Key server being backported to Win2K3.
http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=257
I shudder to think of what Activation 3.0 will be. Perhaps you'll have to submit a full brain scan to ensure that you aren't even THINKING of pirating MSFT software.
I work at a small business and we're de-and-re provisioning new virtual systems all the time. It seems like the new activation will specifically make this harder for us.
Worse, this is branded as a "feature" for businesses to "help them manage their keys." Uh huh...
Keep in mind that I'm a MSFT fan. I guess I won't be touching IIS7 with a 10 foot pole, as nice as the new features are.
Sorry for the rant. It's just a little sad MS has started to treat its customers like criminals.

I was playing a c9 video today and tripped over my headphone cable as i was picking something up off the ground...
WMP gets an error and says it can't play back the sound anymore.
I had to close it and start it up again... good thing i had downloaded the wmv file so i could skip forward when i watched it again.
I'm not sure what great positive features this awareness of wether my headphones are plugged in or not allows... Any ideas? -

In fact I can run Windows XP w/ Office 2003 in a VM on the linux boot same laptop faster then a native Windows XP w/ Office 2007 installed in it.
This was essentially my experience....

Dear Office 2007,
Today is my last day with you. I believe it is now time for us to part ways.
I know our time together was short, but I must tell you that our time together did not meet the expectations set by our first few hours of bliss.
We moved fast at first, and then oh did we ever move so slow. You slowed down my machine... To the point where I could type faster than the screen could respond. You made it impossible for me to do work.
And then the arguing and frustration began. I would curse thee every few minutes. My mouse would stop responding as I yelled at you more and more. I only hope that our friendship is not beyond repair.
Windows Desktop Search 3.0... Oh how slow and bloated are thee! Oh how you are missing much oft used functionality from your younger (2.0) days. Oh how it saddens me to see you go but i feel that it is best for both of us.
Perhaps we shall meet again someday under better circumstances.
Yours, daytrip00 -
By the way, lest you think my frustrated posts are impolite, I would like to thank you for responding Paolo!
I do genuinely appreciate it. Of note, WDS 3.0 works way better on my Vista box. -

I tried it in Vista and XP and it works fine. Did you change the default indexing locations?
Well... it worked a couple days ago... It's just not working anymore. I guess I could tell it to rebuild the index, but after installing Office 2K7 my system has slowed to a crawl. I've only had it installed for a week or so. I'd be pretty unhappy if I had to rebuild the index every week.
You shouldn't have to rebuild the index, ever.
What version of Office 12 did you install? RTM or B2TR? Could you check the versions of the DLLs in %PROGRAMFILES%\Windows Desktop Search? 3.0 RTW is 6.0.5824.16387....
Yep, that's what I got... 6.0.5824.16387
I'm sad... typing "stuff kind: program" into the box takes MUCH longer to show the results now than it did with 2.0. And my system is running SO unbelievably slow these days. I'm wondering if Office 12/WDS is to blame, but I won't be sure until i take it off. Kinda sad, cuz I've already activated it

All new Desktop Search 3.0! Slower and less functional than before!
It's frustrating me a bit more every day. -
