I'd love to try one of those Iconia dual touchscreen machines for creating custom MIDI or OSC interfaces with http://www.gesturespark.com/ or Usine Pro.
I've heard that the reason for points vs. cents is that people are more likely to buy a bunch of points all at once. This way Mirosoft has to deal with credit card transaction fees much less. It wouldn't be efficient for Microsoft to have to deal with credit card fees every time someone buys a 99cent item.
I believe what iTunes does is to not charge you right away but instead they wait for people to make a bunch of purchases that adds up to a certain amount THEN they charge you for that lot of items OR of you don't buy anything more after a certain amount of time they charge you for that one item anyway.
Retailers don't like credit cards because it ends up eating into their profit. They would much rather deal with real money.
I see that the link to Grantophone doesn't go anywhere. Here's the correct link. http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/b082d0ce-5461-e011-81d2-78e7d1fa76f8 Most of the Kotsoft software is amazingly fun. I see that Grantophone has been updated since the last time I saw it and I'm not he first person who wishes he would add MIDI over WiFi/UDPsupport to it.
I wish C9 would interview some small WP7 developers like Kotsoft.
That's good to hear. Hopefully Nokia can help Microsoft out with marketing this OS correctly (because MS and marketing usually don't go very well together). HTC also seems to still be quite enthusiastic about Windows Phone.
Actually, some less-techy friends of mine are starting to say things like, "yeah, I think I'm going to check out the Windows Phone when my contract is up". They currently have earlier versions of iPhones. It's pretty impressive.
It's great that all these well known geeks/bloggers like WP7 but most regular consumers don't care about this. WP7 phones need to be more visible in stores and the employees need to be well educated in how the OS works so they can start selling them.
In reference to switching between windows, since my Windows 98 days, I've been a fan of Alt+Esc (when one time I accedently used it instead of Ctrl+Esc to immediately escape a full screen application without closing it out). It works by taking the current active window and sends it to the bottom, making the second topmost window now the active window. Adding a Shift key has the same effect as adding a Shift key to most other operations, it does the opposite, taking the bottom most window and bringing it to the top. Since it deals with the windows directly, it should not skip over windows without a taskbar entry (at least it doesn't do so in my experience).
