Coffeehouse - What OS is not business critical ready?

For all the businesses using and developing java based applications, it just seems shocking to block it without any warning. Just think about how much time it would take to drop everything and develop in a different language in a business world full of already tight schedules... it's just insane.

Coffeehouse - IE fail.

If evil is right, then I have to repeat reinstalling IE would be pointless, it'd be like having a bad engine on a car and replacing the exhaust system, it's not going to do anything.

Even if it isn't malware related, it's still a good idea to have a copy of malwarebytes on your system. Download the free version and run a scan. If you can't do it on the affected computer, download it on another, put it on a flash drive or burn it on a dvd and put it on your system that way.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Coffeehouse - Why so much negativity?

I know a lot of people want a direct response from someone from MS about the various real problems that exist, but I think we need to be realistic here. Even if everyone here at C9 was reasonable and accepted what they said, words would be twisted and posted in various sites across the internet with a sensational headline:

MICROSOFT ADMITS FAILURE

We're living in an age where every official word needs to be chosen very carefully. When there are people here willing to throw MS under the bus, others will be even less sympathetic.

I guess it'd be cool to know one of the developers and grab a beer or two and talk about it, but other than that I don't expect a satisfying official response.

Coffeehouse - Why so much negativity?

I understand that a lot of people just want to be negative about something. Sometimes it feels more genuine than just kissing butt, and we mistake it for actually having a worthwhile point at times. As people who use windows products though, maybe we should all group together and hate on the other guys. Togetherness people!

Besides, I doubt the apple users would be able to find this place and respond back on their little fisher-price computers. j/k

Coffeehouse - ??? Surface is the next big thing????

Apple years ago had the obviously more stylish GUI and overall look of their products. Microsoft may have been too aggressive on the style subject, but I think it can be said that if you just just want something that looks good (without bringing up function) it has surpassed Apple in that aspect, even if it hasn't been touted as such. I'm not exactly fond of having to do an internet search to find out how to shut down my computer or not have any idea how long it's going to take windows update to download everything, but I am very curious if the masses will get used to, and eventually embrace the look Microsoft is pushing.

Coffeehouse - Steam Box

There are a lot of Valve fanboys that seem to think this will automatically become an automatic success, but I think there are too many question marks to make it a big success. They will be, in some way, convenient to some people but it will be a product that doesn't have the strengths of pcs or consoles.

I see it being something like the mac mini, but for gaming. There is a market, but it's not going to satisfy the casuals (price vs consoles) nor the hardcore (power/upgrade ability vs pcs).

Coffeehouse - Propoganda designed to instill fear at Microsoft ;-)

Personally I think they should try to be on a lower cost ($200?) device that would be on one of the no contract providers to get out there. College kids that want a smartphone but can't stay on a pricey contract?
