Dont do a HND, ugh. I have to go to sunderland for a year to do Computer Systems Engineering, then i can have a degree in that. But during that year i will learn a lot more than i have over the past 4 years with the ND and HND :/
I really should've accepted that place in salford for game programming (full degree)

I actually saw the "real" bootscreen (well, different to the original)
It only ever happened once, and once the system booted it bluescreened. It was a green pulsing bar (like the progress dialogs) at the very bottom of the screen.
But people are gonna call me crazy or faker, so saying the above would be pointless

They also move when you drag the window (its subtle however) to make it appear more "glassy"

Tyler Brown wrote:Interesting application Gizmo. What are you using for the UI? Is it just Windows Forms, or is it WPF? I was looking around Visual Studio to see what you might have used for the title strips but I couldn't find anything. How did you make the title strips like the one used for 'Smart Groups'?

Edit: It just occured to me that it might just be an image...
lol, its no image. We're not using .NET for this, but we are adopting WPF as early as possible (we really need sparkle to get going)

Its the 1.7 update to that application ^^ which can be downloaded at;
http://www.isaacboy.com/files/contactpocket.zip (im using the pocket to save you from installing the app)
We're using a tool called Multimedia Fusion (http://www.clickteam.com) its sort of a cross between VB and something else lol (its event driven, and theres not much typing) at first glance it looks like a very simple n00by application - but we get lots of flexibility when we design our UI's as well as the many extensions available to assist programming.
(I can actually program pretty well in VB, C# and C++ and id love to jump ship asap but as we're only a 2 man team - the designer is very used to multimedia fusion which makes it difficult, I am trying however

I cant show the full app as yet as the designer wants to keep hush
Heres some of my non NDA'd work on the manager (complete with programmers art)

The management process is about halfway done (it just needs to call up each module that it needs) I'll resume that once ive got VCard done (the only file format that has made me swear more times than any other programming task) -
Im not preordering as im waiting till around january to see how it pans out, im 90% sure i'll be getting one though. And the games I will be getting;
Dead Or Alive 4 (So much fun, faster and easier than tekken
)
Alan Wake (Made by remedy, from max payne fame id be mad not to)
Whatever burnout game comes out
Gears of war
Oblivion
Im sure theres many more i will discover, but im trying to keep the number of FPS games down as i want more games that me and all my friends can enjoy.
And yes, it acts like a media centre extender, i think you have to install something on your desktop PC to stream audio & video to your 360. -
Its because when you enlarge folder views (up to 256x256 now) if any icons arent in Vistas icon format, or go large enough. They stick to their max res and sit inside a big box.

I do hope you dont plan on having kids... does "hotdog" mean anything?

And i thought Pentium-M's had more bang for buck both speed and temperature wise. (I outperform a 3.06gHz P4 with my 2.0gHz Pentium-M) but thats down to the insane cache (2MB) i think...i dont really understand procs all that well. -
I guess we'll have to put up with F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2 then...*sigh*

The icons in Vista beta 1 scale really well...They size, then appear jaggedy then they anti-alias, if not then its a very fancy bilinear filter

Infact i was randomly browsing, and was quite surprised at these (i had to take the pics fast before the live icons appeared)
Jpeg Icons
PNG/Gif Icons
Bitmap icons
Font Icons
Theres also added icon resources in system32.dll which cannot be opened by reshacker but form up a 1:1 match (count) with the new fixed-size icons.
