[Question - Will Silverlight come to C9?]

I know there is a port on these forums suggesting that it's a good idea - but no-one has said "Yeah, it's coming soon!"

I love channel 9, and would like to see the site spiffed up with a silverlight overhaul. It would make the whole site so much more engaging and allow for many new features (even if I can't think of one right now...).

Yes - I know it doesn't support Linux, but there could be a 'simple site' for Linux users, or a "Click here to download the video" option for those that can't run Silverlight.
in reply to Question - Will Silverlight come to C9?

<evnet:views>3251</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/254904/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>I know there is a port on these forums suggesting that it's a good idea - but no-one has said "Yeah, it's coming soon!"

I love channel 9, and would like to see the site spiffed up with a silverlight overhaul. [Stopping customers from using Alt-Tab and the Windows-Key in my application.]

I have a WPF application that I want to remain on the screen on the notebooks in my shop, and I don't want customers to exit out of it. I don't mind if they press Alt-F4 (as exiting the application locks the computer) but I don't want any other keys to do anything at all.

I know this can be done, but not how it can be done in WPF/C#. Can someone provide samle code? Or does someone have a better solution?

Thanks, Intrepid.
in reply to Stopping customers from using Alt-Tab and the Windows-Key in my application.

<evnet:views>4514</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/252018/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>I have a WPF application that I want to remain on the screen on the notebooks in my shop, and I don't want customers to exit out of it. It seems Microsoft has already started to loose ground on Adobe, and neither of the products have even been released!?!

What does everyone think of Adobe's efforts to beat WPF/E? Will the eBay 'head-start' and use of Adobe/Macromedia's strong name spell doom for WPF/E? Can two cross platform products (both good JAVA replacements) exist in the same space?

As a Microsoft fan I worry about them... quite often...

in reply to WPF/E vs Adobe Apollo

<evnet:views>1924</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/250885/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>
Today I saw some screenshots of an eBay application running on Adobe's Apollo software and I thought - DOH! However I wanted to discuss my feeling about Windows Media Player 11 and iPod compatibility.
Microsoft is trying very hard to compete with the iPod with it's not-so-well-known Play For Sure system, but is fighting a loosing battle. I'll lay out the problem below:

- Apple uses iTunes to increase sales of iPods and vice versa.
- Microsoft is trying to lure customers away from not one, but two good products.
- People wont just dump software and hardware that they know an love, it needs to be gradual.
- Apple has great retailers pushing their products, Microsoft and partners also have the retailers... but no push.
- Everyone thinks (inluding the press) that no-one makes an mp3 player other than Apple and every review compares competitors mp3 players to their iPod counterparts.

Microsoft need to make WMP11 iPod friendly, no matter what the cost. Only then can they reclaim the market share.
Anyone got anything to say about this?
