edit: i just took a test drive of the new bing maps site. i enjoyed it very much. Still a couple things i would like to see done with photosync but for the most part very cool. I think this is one that 'marketing' should get a hold of and share with

I like Dolly Parton. I like her music and where she is from. I don’t think she has forgoten where shes from. She is a self made woman. I can’t imagine only liking one or two genres of music, or not having some appreciation for country music. In an attempt
to be hip we walk on by and miss so many things. I would suggest listening to Dolly Parton’s coat of many colors song. You might like it, you might not but i think she wrote the song and gives some insite into who she is. I think its funny she admits to not
knowing much about computers. i think she will reach a great group of people with her message. The gambler by Kenny Rogers is a good one as well.

I was disappointed to see users ability to upload video on soap box go the way of the Dodo. I hope Bing Video will let users upload video once again. But ether way I look forward to seeing Bing Video. The way the MSN video is previewed is so much better
than that other companies.

I come to channel 9 as one of the daily sites I visit. I am amazed by how much content that gets put up on the site. There is a new video almost every single day. That amount of content is unprecedented. I visit Blizzard.com site a lot as well. a couple
of my fav sites. But they don’t put near as much new content up on their site. they still have valentines up on their site. I like watching episodes on channel 9. Some of my favorite videos are those of Bill Hill and those that deal with MS personalities.
I also like behind the code. I do have a couple least favorites. But it’s not enough to make me rant and rave. I focus on what I like and leave what I don’t like to others to enjoy.

Re: Minds, Machines, and Intelligence: A Conversation with Eric Horvitz

We maybe in the same ocean as Mr. Horvitz but he is in a different league than us. I try to read some of the papers he has published. They go way over my head.
http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/people/horvitz/uai2k1.htm Wish I could understand better the subject of ‘Reasoning under limited computational resources’. The subject and
level of knowledge needed to correspond about such things is a little intimidating. But I like that Mr. Horvitz shared the story about listening into neurons and trying to decipher the code behind intelligence that way. I think it displays his curiosity. Something
I think we all need.

When I think, I realize I am at a disadvantage due to a lack of knowledge or lack of information regarding unknown variables. It’s amazing that I can come to any kind of conclusion at all when making a decision. Some people have a hard time walking down
the street because they have so much information to process and yet not enough information to complete their inquiry. The majority of us make decisions when we relatively have very little information on the subject. We make our decisions in ignorance. Our
minds make the best decisions possible based on the information at hand and then roles the dice.

I think it may be just as advantages to figure out how to harness the human minds ability to deal with uncertainty as it is to give those same abilities to computers.

I do think we can make machines that reflect our ability to think. Abstractly: if the equations they make are able to be matched against each other over and over again. Like the rolling of dice until it strikes upon the most logically feasible result. I
may have just over simplified a very challenging question. Kind of like when I was a kid and I thought all you needed to make a computer game was a card board box and a picture drawn on paper.

Behind the code delivers yet another great program.

12:30 “When I started getting into Decision science. I started getting interested in both decision making on uncertainty but also about what do we do with limited resoners if we built a limited system, how could it be optimized to do it the best it could. I
had this sense that…um… and I still do very much that we can understand a lot about intelligence, biological intelligence, human intelligence if we push really hard on this notion of …um... trying to do the best one can with limited …um… computational recourses.
Limited time for example. Um… that this would explain the pressures of competition and minds would etch out …a, brains with certain properties that would do their best under restraints of various kinds.”

How does a limited time restraint improve decision making? Have there been minds culled under study that do better than others with limited computational recourses? What other resources are there that are tracked besides time restraints? I would like to see
the data.

Can some one give an explanation to describe what directed acyclic graphs are? Other than what is already written on a wiki. Thanks
Great interview. i particularly liked the part when it turned to tracking and the evolution of our alphabet.

Lascaux wiki

In my subscription to National Geographic there is an add that has a picture taken of cave writings. I was fascinated by the idea that these are early forms of writing. Place a camp fire in the cave and let it flicker on the walls and you have early form
of moving pictures that must have been mesmerizing to the creator and his friends. I wonder what the price of admission was. Maybe they traded furs or stone cutting technologies maybe it was some kind of social bonding. The art work and rendering of such
animals is remarkable. I think these cave paintings are a testament to the legitimacy of the human brain during prehistoric times. Ill bet these people had the intelligence to use a computer if they had them. It makes me think, that if we compare the computer
technology to those cave drawings that there are still many more advancements to be made in technology. Particularly in writing and communications.

Bill suggested an interview with Greg Hitchcock. Is any one at Channel 9 heading over to him to hear about hinting fonts?

I’m not a fast reader. But I like to read. I take my time to take every thing in. I went and started to read the book found on your web site, The Mabinogion. I read for about an hour. I read about the fountain, the castles and black nights of who acquire
mortal wounds to the head with a sword. All interesting stuff. I pushed F11 and read the book at full screen mode on my 19" monitor desk top computer. I would like to go back and pick up were I have left off. Some kind of book mark would be nice.

Something I really miss about reading on screen is having an actual book in my hand something I can touch. A physical representation of volume. I had a hard time getting a good representation of how far into the book I was in relation to the finish. I saw the
page numbers and that helped some. I had to page threw several button pushes to see how close I was to finishing the chapter. I don’t know if this is relevant to any one ells but it’s my first thought when reading. I like knowing how big the book is im reading.
I evaluate the time i have to reading. I like to be able to finish the storys i start.

I liked the font, it was clear to read. Much more clear than the Gutenberg.org. The button up at the center top broke me away from reading. Maybe a button at the bottom right on the last page might help so I don’t have to search as far for the method to turn
the next page. I think scrowling also distracts from reading.

(Edit: links to the different chapters would also be nice. )
(Edit: i went back and finished the first story. in the book)
