  • Why Firefox is more secure than IE

You should change your thread title to "Why Firefox was more secure than IE in 2006".  And then beat yourself repeatedly.

Yes dear, I see you have learned the scare tactics unsuccessfuly used during the Republican campaign. They didn't work then, they won't work now and in the future, it's just awesome that the people are finally using their power to vote who they really want at the helm of the nation.
I agree with phreaks.  Just because someone makes a lot of money, doesn't mean they are forced to share.  Where's the incentive to be successful then, if the price of success is voided?

Everyone wants the American Dream, but no one ever said you'd get it for free; why should you, when so many others have worked hard for it?  What makes them so special that they don't have to work for it?  It's like welfare; there are so many imbeciles on it already for ridiculous reasons, and the welfare office doesn't even care, and who ends up paying for it?  Businesses do, from their hard-earned money, just so some idiot can sit at home and collect a check.  I know, because at my wife's company, she deals with people who don't want to work because they flat-out admit that they still have another 4 months of welfare coming in.  And that's who Obama plans on  redistributing the wealth to?  No thanks.

Thankfully, the next 4 years will go by quickly, and then it'll be time to rectify this huge mistake.

Nice. Gold and sparkly, or is that too much?
Depends on what's gold and sparkly.  I'd only "gold and sparkly"-fy those parts you want to call attention to.

  • So how should I pose for an author's picture?

Lying down on a conference table....  in a thong.

Can you link us to something you've done? So far we've seen codiplex.com, a bust project. You trying to import BMWs into Canada, probably another bust project.

    Anything? Post us some links.
I'd like to see the letters he supposedly wrote to Psystar, FSF and OSI.

However, much like his character, I'm inclined to believe it's all just talk with no substance behind it.

  • No hope of getting MIDI in Vista?

Creative Labs is just a mess.  I bought a Audigy 2 Platinum EX for around $400, but if I upgrade to Vista, DVD-Audio, Dolby DTS Decoding, EAX, Midi, 6.1 Sound and SPDIF are all disabled.  However, if I pay $9.99, I can get EAX to work.  And for the rest, I have to buy their latest sound card, because that's what they want you to do.

So I put that card back in an XP box, and am using an onboard realtek card that supports all those features except for DVD-Audio for no extra charge.

Only advice I can give is not to buy anything from them; when their next card comes out, and a new version of Windows comes out, they'll decide again to drop support and instead force you to buy yet another sound card to get the features you've already paid for.

  • Vista SP1 - My Windows is now an "Evaluation Copy' WTF

I'm just frustrated by my entire Vista experience so far.
It's been one nagging issue after another, and I'm losing productivity.

If I didn't have so much data on this machine already, I would reformat and reinstall XP this very evening.

Backing up 350 Gb is going to take about 51 DVD's; yah, I can't wait!
And I will end up losing some stuff, most of my raw home video files are 14 - 17 Gb each, can't fit those on a DVD, so I'll have to try to fit as many of those onto my file server as possible.

In reality, I'm still going to need to burn about 30 DVD's worth of data to buck all my stuff up.

So yeah, the entire situation as I have experienced has been awful.

You should buy a 500GB hard drive, as they are cheap nowadays.

The main issue is the state of Vista pre SP1. It's ridiculous.

OK, let's assume that I needed the RC of SP1 to fix some major Vista issue(s).

Let's also assume that right around the time the RC is set to expire, there is some catastrophic event in my life, like maybe my wife becomes very ill and needs to be hospitalized for an extended period, or perhaps terrorists blow up some major Internet pipelines so that I can't get an Internet connection...

It doesn't matter what the specifics are just think of one...

Now, all of a sudden the time bomb goes off and I am now completely unable to use my PC since I either don't have the time to uninstall/reinstall or the connection to the Internet is down for weeks.

Completely crippling a valid OS license due to a time restricted Service pack, doesn't make sense.

I understand your issue regarding support, but it's easy enough to just state that it's unsupported, without resulting to limiting the features of the OS.

Why don't you post here in June 2008 when your pre-release SP expires.  Then there'll actually be something to complain about.  Complaining about something that "might" happen based on improbable "ifs" is pointless.  And besides, you said you're going back to XP anyway, so what's all the fuss about?

    Prolly not.

I'm guessing I will have probably rolled back to XP or Win2k3 by then.

So what are you complaining about?
