As far as the store setup goes, they had 2 devices on display. I can't say I was too impressed with the wall setup and everything, that big touch display for demoing the OS was not working.

So far I haven't seen any other Windows phone device in the wild. One guy at work that is considering buying one is still thinking about it.

it seems that they also added an option to filter your facebook friends so that they won't all show up in your contacts list.

WP7 has a good scaler so phone application should be able to run fine.

Microsoft should  also add an app section to xbox360 (silverlight and xna) just like on wp7.  Combine that with upcoming natal and they got a good package.

The worst thing of all is consumer confusion in regards to WP7.  Just look at some of the comments on twitter and you'll see people talk on how WP7 sucks because KIN sucks.

30$ for data, 40$ voice.

If you add zune pass to the deal you have to pay 85$ /month.

What is going on here? On top of it the data/voice plans are too expensive. You can basicly get a smart phone like Palm Pre for much less.

Windows 7 on a slate is wrong like Windows mobile is wrong on a phone.  Microsoft realized that very late and started working on Windows Phone 7.  Same needs to happen to tablets.  Copy Apple's model and do it fast.

According to their press release, that is precisely their plan. They want to take the whole WebOS and scale it in all directions. Sounds ambitious.

 

I think HP has realised that a market crowded with similar Win7 phones is not something that is going to do anyone any good. They're taking the Apple approach: the hardware and software under their roof. They'll still make a Win7 phone, but I don't expect them to push it very hard (what would be the point?)

 

 

Maybe Microsoft needs to buy HTC or Motorola and start building their own hardware.

quick review

-UI is very fast no lag or stuttering at all. Basicly feels like the ui is alive.  When you interact with something it responds as if you are touching a physical object, much faster than my iphone 3g.

-Screen feels bigger than it actually is, probably because you hold the device  closer to you.

-The book reading experience is very cool in ibooks.

-Used it for about an hour and the battery went down from 92% to 86% while I was constantly moving from app to app and playing videos. Brightness was set to max.

-Keyboard is not very comfortable somehow I think I prefer typing on the iphone.

-Feels  a bit too heavy, something that actually started to bother me after using it for about 10 minutes.

I think it has amazing potential.  Right now I am not buying one, I would wait for a next version.

And NO, Windows 7 based tablets/slates don't count and let me explain why.

- My mother called me last week to ask me what I think about the iPad.  My mom never cares about technology but she thinks this will be better than the netbook and the Kindle she was planning on buying.

- My wife who never cares about technology never puts her iPhone down.  Even if the laptop is in her lap she uses the iPhone to read her emails. She is also interested in the iPad.

When Apple revealed the iPhone 3 years ago and knowing about the Surface computer I actually thought Microsoft will try to leapfrog Apple with a tablet that is consumer friendly.  In the meantime nothing happend with the Surface and now we have the iPad.

This company needs to wake up.

I don't see why people would be happy.

Then again, it's just a rumor.

Flash will be available at some point, same with silverlight.

Lack of multi-task didn't stop people from buying the iPhone, Microsoft is targeting the same audience.  More important is full integration with the other Microsoft properties(XBox, Zune)
