With all the negativity towards Vista, why is talking so long for Microsoft to actually fix some of the issues users have with the OS? Things that need to be fixed ASAP

-slow file copy speeds (local / over network)
-reduce the number of UAC prompts
-slow boot/shutdown
- improve ZIP/UNZIP performance
- slow Java script performance in IE

Why is it so hard to fix these problems?

what happend to live image search?
There is no advanced search anymore, seems like a step backward. The only cool thing is that the picture doesn't zoom in anymore (that was always slow for me)

More than a year ago Iphone was unveiled, next week will probably see a new version, Android is shaping up to be a nice platform too, what happend to windows mobile? Is that going the way of Palm OS?

WPF - where are the apps??? [WPF - where are the apps???]

How long till we start seeing something cool on that front. Vista desktop looks good but thats about it, all the apps look like they looked in the past.
The new Zune software looks really good but that is not even WPF(correct if I am wrong).
Anyone remember project Max, why is it that the photo viewer in Vista doesn't look like that?

Where are the next gen UIs? What happened to the Max project? Why is Microsoft not leading by example and start building their UIs with wpf? The only thing I am seeing are demos but no a final product. Young users are not atracted to the platform as it is. It started with the desktop and it will end there if MS doesn't do something to atract them. (If you don't belive me go to any apple store and check out the vibe.)

Does anyone know if Silverlight/WPF is being considered at all for the Windows mobile platforms. I would love to see that on windows mobile or a zune.
