I was never a huge fan of widgets. I don't know I really like a lean and mean desktop...

But I love the strategy of a friend of mine when it comes to clean up the desktop. He uses a folder that he calls "Old desktop" and drags everything in that folder. Whatever he needs he drags back out. And then he created another "Old desktop" folder and does the same stuff again. He has like 50 nest "Old Desktop" on his desktop.

Hi niners!

As a couple of you might know I am working on a project called DataMarket at Microsoft. DataMarket is a store/repository for data. We have a huge amount of statistics data, weather data, real estate data, and much more. Subscribing to data is as easy as buying a book online. After you subscribed you can use Visual Studio (or any other environment) to create an application that interacts with the data. All with a couple of lines of code!

To celebrate our V1 launch we announced a contest!

Visit the following page to learn how you can win an Xbox+Kinect or a couple of notebooks by building applications that leverages the data from DataMarket: http://www.codeproject.com/Competitions/460/Azure-DataMarkets-Competition.aspx

I am looking forward to see your contributions!

Go niners go and win all the prices!!

Coffeehouse - Annoying maximizing bug in Windows 7

That's weird. I haven't seen this happening. I guess the best would to report this in the support forums. They are usually monitored by team members.

Coffeehouse - What would you do for MS?

Microsoft is fun to work at. I haven't been at building 1 in Silicon Valley - didn't even know that there's a building 1 down there - but our secretaries in building 34 are very nice. Always greet, smile and chat a bit with you. I like it.

It's interesting that there's an idea of Microsoft being "a robot". Probably it's because the company is so big - and this is my personal opinion (as always) What I see is that we are rather a ton of small companies within one company. Small agile teams
(at least in Azure, which is where I have visibility) working on interesting projects.

So far, after 1 year in Redmond, I can say that it is really a dream job. I enjoy going to work and I work long hours because it's so much fun. Our team has startup mentality with a lot of people who want to build interesting things, thinking about simplifying
APIs and interaction with software and how to make things open for everyone.

Coffeehouse - Video's Forum please

CKurt has a great point here - I also noticed the same over the last few years. Videos (and the thread created with them) are all isolated conversations because it's hard to understand whether somebody replied, etc. (an overview is missing) - whereas the
Coffeehouse is more like one big conversation due to the overview that allows you to fast understand what has changed since your last visit.
