For example... You care about design so you ended up helping the people at MS see what many users thought needed to be done to advance Windows with the "Taskforce sites". I believe your actions actually made a difference. What you and WP7Chevron guys did was a pretty bold move too and some people at Microsoft noticed. That doesn't happen very often.
You might think that you're just another guy with a blog but somehow you and your friends talking about stuff on your website gets noticed all over the world and linked to on other blogs.
BUT... most of the time a bunch of geeks talking about what they think MS should do to advance a certain product on a forum like the Coffeehouse will never be noticed by people at MS who are powerful enough to make a difference.*snip*
Fair enough. I think most of the time when people actually do something (instead of just talking about), it has enough impact alone. Of course it does help if what you're doing involves other people so they're also motivated in your cause.
I also thought the Twitter visualizer in the background of Channel9 Live was really slick and cool :-"

Too bad this wasn't an open source project. I'm sure they could have found a designer willing to do it for free out of the goodness of his heart.
It will be open source: http://www.istartedsomething.com/20110830/nsquared-demos-seamless-computing-prototype-at-teched-australia-2011/

I got a HTCTrophy Windows Phone about 2 months ago. Love it. But one thing I don't understand, is why it duplicated my contact entry so many times. In my Hotmail account, which I used as one of my email accounts on the phone, I have only 1 entry for myself, with my email address. However, there's something like 17 entries on my phone, all the same.
Huh?
Very cool find!11 hours ago, Blue Ink wrote
@W3bbo: you may want to try libphonenumber. The online JS demo handled perfectly all the numbers I threw at it, from several countries.
As an added bonus, it distinguishes between mobile and landline where the numbering plan permits it.

Why would you want to do, distracting animation carp, any way?
For non-modal prompts only. Don't know if you noticed, but Metro is all about animations ![]()
We're looking to do this in MetroTwit with our prompts and stuff ![]()

I'm still wondering what Walshie was on about when he was saying the first WP7 update was like a totally new OS.
